View Full Version : Flights booked - Which Hotel?!

Finally can start counting down to next years holiday now, booked flights with Aitours for £315 per person on 15th OCT 06, for 14 nights from manchester, not a bad price for booking a year in advance!
Just need to decide where to stay! We are deciding between, Port Orleans, Caribbean Beach, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary, For wilerness and any others that may come up, dont think we want to go as long as the value resorts (not a snob, just like my hotels!) we are not booking the accom until Feb which is when the travel agent rates come out so will have plenty of time to choose!
Any suggestions and reports from the above hotels?
Please feel free to add another hotel to my list if you think it would be good value etc!
Cheers:D

I've stayed in both POR and CBR and prefer POR. The location is lovely, the rooms are spacious and the boatride to DTD had the edge over CBR. I prefer the setting of POR over CBR but enjoyed both resorts.

20th Oct?
They have been released with the charters, or are you looking at schedule?

They are both similar prices too? What are the facilities etc like and are the buses to park frequent?

I prefer POR over CBR and AKL over CR. As a matter of fact CR might be right up there with my least favorite resort on WDW property.

Why is that?
What reasons are there to miss out cr?

We're thinking of trying the CR now the rooms are getting a refit. They were pretty awful before! :afraid:

I'm so conflicted about CR.
Treatment at checkin was cold but efficient.
Long walk to our room (I felt) in one of the garden wings.
The walk was through long passages which had low ceilings and felt quite oppressive :/
BUT
The room was huge compared to other resorts I've stayed in!
Massive window and we could actually see the mk fireworks from the window.
I LOVE the feel of the contemporary.. the hustle and bustle
monorail great
LOADS of cool restaurants to choose from (and stagger back to room :)
Shops are good
Arcade is huge and had pool to play :) although we noticed in September that the arcade has swapped from coins to "tokens" and everything has gone up to pay for it :(
BUT
The shower didnt work for us and when we called we were treated to the rudest person in the world on the phone. FINALLY they fixed it.
BUT BUT!
we were there during MVMCP and it was SOOOOO wonderful to be able to just have a short walk back to the resort instead of crowded busses
All in all, I think it's a good resort in a great location. I liked it more than I expected to!
I DONT think its good value at rack rates, I'd only stay there with a good discount.
I can see what people meant about it being old and tatty, hoping the refurb will take care of that though.
Finally, a tower room would be SO much better than a wing room.

Keep in mind that the moderate resorts (CBR, CSR, POR/POFQ) have exterior corridors, so if you want a real "hotel" feel with interior corridors, you will need to book a deluxe resort.

Nick how did you book tickets to get them that price. I told my friend the price you got and she looked and they were over £600, so I said I would ask you. She wants to go exactly the same time, but from Gatwick, surely it wouldn't make that much difference in price where you fly from

Just to let people know searching for flights, if you want a cheap flight, most of the time do a package holiday search as it will come up with a fly drive, they are usually cheaper than flight only because they are subsidised as they are banking on your taking the car and the insurance!!
You do not have to take the car at the other end - thus saving money on the flight only price!!
