From the Magic Kingdom you can visit 3 hotels via the monorail, and Wilderness Lodge by boat.

You can walk to the Poly from the TTC and you can walk to the Contemp from the MK. The Epcot resorts including the Sw/Dolph are all walking distance through the IG. The mods are buses apart from POFQ/POR where you can boat from DTD. Values are buses only, as is AKL. :D

The EPCOT resorts (BWI, BC, YC & S&D) also can be reached by Friendship launch. It's almost faster to walk (depends on one's foot speed!), but the feet may appreciate a rest!
FW also is available via ferry from MK, along with WL.
POR/POFQ, OKW and SSR can be reached via bus or ferry from DTD.

Boardwalk Inn, Swan and Dolphin and Saratoga Springs
The Epcot resorts are really easy to visit. It's a nice relaxing few hours strolling round the boardwalk, looking at the resorts.

can you visit them in the evening for a stroll round, for something to do? :)
what i was thinking was going to DTD then visiting a resort every other night or two, or something like that :)

You sure can, it's the best time to see it IMO! The Boardwalk is pretty deserted in the daytime, it comes to life at night and has a buzz about it. You could rent a surrey bike, have a take out from Beaches and Cream or just grab a beer at ESPN :D
I love the Poly at night when all the walkways are lit by torches and you can go sit in a hammock on the beach to catch the EWP and fireworks....magical!! :micbounce

Hey Mike, hope you don't mind if I put my 2 cents in...Yes, by all means if you think it is not too much trouble to get there. My suggestions are for GF...lovely lobby, usually have some sort of musicians playing..places to eat and shop. Lobby is great to people watch too.
Another favorite is Boarwalk...it is a destination unto itself. There are restaurants (yeah ESPN..and a microbrew pub/restaraunt, and there is a dance hall). Usually have jugglers and musicians there! Nice way to spend the evening! OH, I am so longing for a visit.

:iagree: with all the transport suggestions. The monorail resorts are easy. bus from resort to mk and monorail to GF, CR or Poly. I have to agree the GF is a must see, we had our wedding reception there - I felt really honoured to be somewhere so amazing. Where are you thinking of staying Mike?

Someone help me out here please, I thought they didnt let you into the resorts unless you were staying there or had a dinner reservation? I've always wanted to go and see some of the others but never knew you could (we have pool hopped and been in to do that but only to SAB (when you were allowed to in the past), to WL and to POR.
Also - are you allowed to use the buses if you aren't staying on property? I know I have had my id checked on the bus in the past but as we stay at OKW and therefore have resort id I thought you had to have resort id to use them.

Yep, you can visit any resort you like. Dine at any resort. You definately can't pool hop unless you own DVC and then only at certain times and at certain pools.
