My wife and I are looking into a trip, next year, if not sooner. Our problem is that, we have not stayed at that many resorts. My 5 year old daughter is convinced that the only place we can stay, in the POFQ, because of the dragon water slide.

I love POFQ, but my wife and I, both, like to try different resorts, just to mix things up. So, can anyone tell me about the pools? Or, more specifically, can anyone tell me about the slides, so that I can convince my 5 year old that the dragon slide is not the only one?

well if you want a change you can stay at POR and still use the POFW pool since their sister resorts

The YC/BC has the best pool on property from what I've read around here.

The slide at Stormalong Bay at the Yacht and Beach Clubs is great. Might be a bit intense for your 5 year old though.

Yeah, I agree, Stormalong gives me the heebie jeebies with little ones. :D

I love JM's idea of staying at Port Orleans Riverside - they have a cool pool there (my daughter has nicknamed it 'the poor man's stormalong bay') with a neat tubular slide and it's own mini circular swim area, water fall feature, and neat theming. Plus, pop on the boat and you're at French Quarter again for your daughter.

I seriously don't remember if Coronado or Caribbean Beach have slides, how pathetic is that??

What level of resort are you considering?

Okay....FQ has the dragon slide, POR has Ol' Man island pool with a nice waterslide and you'd be able to use the pools at both resorts as mentioned because they are sister resorts.

CBR has a waterslide with kind of a castle type theme....CBR was not a favortite resort though IMO and the hot tub was right next to the bottom of the waterslide ....lots of kids in it if the adults like the hot tub...just something to keep in mind.

CSR is suppossed to be one of the better resort pools. It has the dig sight pool with a pyramid and a great slide.

WL/VWL has a nice pool with a slide good for a 5yr old.

GF has a zero entry pool with a waterfall and a nice slide as well as a kids jumping fountain (similar to the jumping fountain at Epcot on the bridge between future world and world showcase). My kids LOVE this feature.

Poly has the same type pool only the slide is in a volcano. It also has a jumping fountain.

CR has a waterslide. A little bit bigger, not as good for a 5 yr old IMO and the pool theming is kind of lame.

Y & B and BCV's has SAB. Definetly the best pool on Disney property! It's like a mini-waterpark. It has the flying Jib slide ...quite big for a 5yr old. They'd need to be a good swimmer to ride BUT there's a very nice smaller waterslide for the little ones on the back of the big ship and it's great for the 5yr olds! My 5yr old loves it! There's also a sandbottom pool with sinking sands, and a water swirly area as well as a lazy river and a shallow sand pool area which the little ones love.

BWV's/BWI has the Keister Coaster waterslide with the big scarey clown face that the slide comes out of ...it's themed like a roller coaster in a carnival. It's a good quick slide that the older kids love.

Swan and Dolphin has a pool area called the Groto pool that's suppossed to be very good and has a nice waterslide....haven't been though so can't say much from experience but I hear it's quite nice.

AKL has a nice zero entry pool with a medium size slide at the Uzima pool.

and I think that about does it.....:)

MY pics for a 5yr old would be POR or FQ, or GF or POLY for the jumping fountain . But there's so many good ones!

Best of luck deciding;)

Scootch you rock! Outstanding coverage of the pool scene. Throw my $.02 in...the POR - PORFQ gives you a lot of options..there is the "Huck Finn-like" experience of POR and the neat Dragon slide of PORFQ but there are a few nice quiet pools too. They are a short walk or boat ride from each other..gives you options...But JUST LOVE the Keister Coaster! Loved BWI.

Caribbean Beach had 7 pools- One for each village and then the main pool. The main pool has a slide, and fun areas for little ones. The village pools are very quiet, on a busy day there would be about 4 families using it. There are small beaches for easch village which surround the lake and most have a play area, which might be good for your daughter. Hope this helps
