View Full Version : Using someone else's Park Hopper Tickets

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum, but ran across this while tracking the Discount Disney emails since I typically go to FL at least once per year.
My boss gave me 4 Park Hopper Tickets that he and his family used last year. They were for 4 Day Park Hopper and it's my understanding since they only used 3 days, there is 1 day left on each.
Does anyone out there know if it's possible for me and a few friends to use these while there - we plan to go the week of Oct. 24th and will be going to Universal and the Halloween Horror Nights while there.
Is Disney a stickler for someone knowing these weren't our original tickets? I heard that annual passes use finger scan, but what about the Park Hopper Tickets? These are supposed to be for either of the parks including: Magic Kingdom; Disney MGM Studios; Epcot; or Disney's Animal Kingdom.
I've never been and would love to use this opportunity if I knew I could. I mean, like are the attendants so busy they will like just swipe the tickets without thought and let you on in, or is it an ordeal and they really scrutinize to make sure you're not using someone else's ticket or a child's ticket vs. adult, etc.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Depending on when they're from, there can be a finger scan attached since all adult tickets require it now. All tickets are non transferable

They are quite keen on this. More money for them.

That's what I was worried about. From looking at the tickets/passes, on the back I don't see anything that indicates there was a finger scan but that doesn't mean there wasn't. I'm thinking these were purchased by phone or online last year.
I figure worst case scenario we go to the entrance and try and either get in or not. I just didn't want them to like take us away to jail or anything! I mean, really these aren't stolen or anything and my boss can't use them so he figured I might be able to.
Thanks again!

If the tickets are from last year, they probably aren't set up to be used with the new system anyway and wouldn't expect the "finger scan" thing to work. At any rate, they won't haul you off to jail or anything like that.

Chances are they were issued prior to Magic Your Way starting. If that is the case, and there should be some sort of date on the back, then it is pre finger scan.

I have a feeling that if you are caught, mickey hauls you out infront of the crowd and he and goofy give you a public flogging...:)
Which is why Disney scrambled the emergency frequency

Best I can tell, the tickets were used and purchased last June 17, 2004. The date on the back of them for some reason say WMK:074 01/01/05. Not sure what that means. Anyone?
Thanks!

Do yourself (and me) a favor, please, and ask your boss if he/she had to do the "finger scan" thing while using those tickets at WDW. If he/she says "yes", well, the ticket is "coded" to their fingers and won't work for you when you are asked to put your fingers in the scanner.
If they didn't have to do the "finger scan" thing, you may still be asked to do so when you use the ticket. However, once your fingers have been scanned, that will "tie" the ticket to you. This will also be true of anyone using another one of the tickets you were given. So if you decide to hop or leave the park and return later, DON'T mix up the tickets!

i heard of the scanning before we went so i just put a first letter of each forename on each ticket just in case :D

we took my cousins tickets a fortnight ago. She went last August. We went to MGM and finger scanned with no problems, we didn't realise it was EMH and they let us in for that too. My cousin finger scanned too when she went - we are in no way similar to her or her husband, so they must be able to be used.

If she went August last year, she wouldn't have had to scan with the tickets. The new type of tickets came into being January this year, lesleyjane.

I heard someone say that they used their spouses ticket instead of their own they switched them somehow, and on the finger scan it didn't recognize that it was someone different. So I'm wondering how well it scans your fingers because I used it for the first time this year and sometimes when you put your fingers in it scanned right away other times you really had to work to get it to scan, the attendant would tell you push in farther and squeeze there in the middle harder.

I'm a bit worried about this because when I went to Colorado earlier this year the finger scanner at the airport would not scan my fingers. They had to get some special 'paste' to put on them before the machine would work. My finger prints are very very faint (no idea why).
Do you think I may have problens at Disney too?

It's not your fingerprint it reads so i'm sure you'll be fine. The airport scanners couldn't read mine either

Disney don't scan your finger prints. They measure the length of your fingers to the knuckle.

Thanks Paula - you are the only other person I have heard have that problem - makes me feel better to know I am not alone! :)
