Hi Everyone!

My Dhtb and myself will be having our honeymoon in Disney next May 06. We know we do not want to stay at a value resort, we stayed at Pop last month and it was great we just want to have a little better for our honeymoon. So which moderate level resort would you choose? CBR, POFG, POR or CSR and why? I have been reading reviews and looking at all the links I just cannot decide. Thankyou in advance for any help you can give!!!

I haven't stayed there, but everyone tells me that the French Quarter is very romantic and quieter than the larger hotels. I'm sure someone will be along shortly with more information for you

I've visited most of them although not stayed at them all, but POR is my favourite so far.

I love the surroundings, the boat to downtown disney is great especially of an evening and they have a restaurant onsite + a large bar with piano bob who really is excellent.

POFQ is smaller and more intimate but lacks the restaurant/piano bob.

CSR looks interesting and Im spending a couple of nights there in December but I doubt it'll match up to POR.

CBR always seems SO huge

I too would go for Port Orleans. French Quarter looks more romantic to me but Keith has a point about Riverside having the restaurant and Piano Bob. Either way you could do a carriage ride and stroll through the hotel grounds. Congratuations on your upcoming marriage!!

POFQ is the smallest of the four and I think the most romantic. The stroll over to POR is a nice one and easy to do :)

The only one I have visited is Carribea Beach. I can't say I'd stay there to be honest, soooooo big. I've heard both Port Orleans are lovely though :)

I love Riverside for honeymooners. It's just so dang romantic, and I love the carriage ride, the restaurant, and Piano Bob for a night out. Be sure to ask for a Mansion room - the are two sides; Alligator Bayou is more rustic, and tends to collect more families, since they sleep five.

French Quarter is also very lovely, but the lack of a table service restaurant throws it off for me.

My choice would be Port Orleans Riverside, Magnolia Bend.

We've stayed at both POR and CBR and if you're going on honeymoon, definitely opt for POR. CBR is more geared towards families with kids. POR is arranged around a lake and is more tranquil and romantic. The boatride to DTD is a lovely addition and although we've not done the carriage ride, they look really good. We've been to CSR on the bus and although it looks ok, the setting is nowhere near as good as POR. We're going back again in July for our 3rd visit to POR!

I would agree with the votes for POR/POFQ. My DBF and I stayed at FQ in the summer on our first proper holiday together and loved it. We enjoyed eating a meal in Boatwrights at Riverside and then strolling back beside the river as it was just getting dark, the setting really is beautiful. It was also nice to snuggle up on the boat to/from DTD at night when everything was lit up.

Well, what a decision to make. When I first posted this thread I was leaning towards CBR as it looked fun and for younger groups but now I think I just have to check out POR since everyone is raving about it!! Your making my decision just too easy! LOL Now we are a fairly young couple being 24 and 29. Do you think this makes a difference on which resort? The only thing that would be holding me back would be that I was looking at the photos of POR and the rooms look very "old timey" if you will! Can anyone fill me in on the rooms. Also can anyone compare how the food court and the arcade(for my dear DHTB) is at POR compared to CBR? Thankyou all for your help.

ive stayed at C.springs on honeymoon and this year at PORS... we loved both resorts but would say Port Orleans is more romantic and special in feeling. I would not stay at C.B.R I really didn't like the look at this place when we visited on our day of touring resorts....... Port Orleans gets my vote

Another vote for POR. Stayed there for honeymoon ourselves. Loved it. We're staying in either CBR or CS next August not because there was anything wrong with POR we just want to try another!
But I would re visit POR anytime - Particularly loved the boat ride to DTD. Oh and ask for Magnolia Bend - really lovely and pay the little extra to have a water view room.

It has to be POR. My wife and I stayed there, for our Honeymoon, and it was great. It is much, MUCH quieter, than POFQ. Now that we've been married for 8 1/2 years, and have a 5 year old daughter, we stay at POFQ. It is more whimsical, and more family oriented. POR, or Dixie Landings as I STILL call it, is quieter, classier, and a lot more romantic. Go for walks, rent a boat, go to dinner. It was the best.

Trust me, 9-10 months AFTER your honeymoon, POFQ is the place for you. But, for now, stick with POR. You will not be sorry.

I actually found the smaller POFQ to be the quietest resort I have stayed at out af all the Disney resorts I've stayed at

Ok well after all the help from everyone here we have decided to say at POR. It sounds perfect for what we want and very romantic! Just one more thing to decide on. Now I know we shouldnt stay on the alligator bayou side because of noise issues but I was looking at a map of the resort and can anyone tell me the best building on the mansions side. I see they are broken down into: acadian house, magnolia terrace, oak manor and Parterre Place. Does anyone have any recommendations on which would be the best and how far it is from the bus and food court etc? We want a king bed room, are they limited to certain buildings? Thank you all for all of your input you have truely made my decison much less stressful and now I can focus on all the fun details to make our honeymoon the best!!

King bedded rooms are sprinkled throughout the Mansions section. Personally, I like the location of each building, with a nod to Oak and Paterre. Even Acadian is nice. Each is a leisurely stroll to the main amenities, and is pretty close to the perimeter bus stops. Be aware that if you request Magnolia Terrace, it is a surcharge.

Make sure to book a carriage ride, too! You can bring your own champagne on board, too.

We stayed at POFQ on our honeymoon in May 2001 and we loved it. Definitely take advantage of the boat ride to DTD. That was a lot of fun. I hope you have a great time at POR.

POR-FQ I think would be your best choice, for several reasons--I think POR and FQ are wonderful (also CBR-since it is really the exact same layout) for one really good reason--it is easy to get in and out.. the parking lots are close to your room and you can quickly pop in and out of your room--also it has a romantic and quiet air to it..also not as many kids because of the room size--you cant have a big family- 4 is the max..and POR is just a short walk away:wiggle:

You're welcome, allowman, happy to help. :D
