Does anyone know if Virgin supply you with flight socks? They are about £15 in the shops and there are 4 of us.

No, they don't. You have to buy your own, I'm afraid.

Virgin do list 'socks' in the free goodies bag that they give to you .... what they don't mention is that they are either luminous pink or yellow and are cheap ordinary socks.

With no heel!
You have to buy your own im afraid - ebay is another option if you dont want to pay that much per pair, it is expensive!

Hey! Thats my glove puppets you're talking about! We had the grotesque lurid green ones on our last trip (which we never used) but they are very much alive and kicking at my local playgroup where they are sock puppets called fizz and bang!!

Do you think I should buy flight socks? Does anyone else buy them? Or is it ok to just make sure we walk around?

I think you should buy some for the adults - im not so sure the children need them though, but i may be wrong!

I bought some for us, to be on the safe side more than anything.

I bought them in a mans size as my calfs are fat and I found the large in a womens too tight. They definately did the job but next time I would buy the light coloured one. I didnt realise they came in different colours and just got the black ones - which looked really sexy with my light coloured skirt and backless sandals I can tell you!!! You can buy them at the airport to so if you change your mind you can still get some before the flight. Dont buy cheap ones though - if you think you may need them buy the best - some cheaper brands are nothing more than stretchy socks!! Dont think I would get them for children either though.

Speak to your doctor and see what they say. My doctor told me that a healthy, normal weight, non-smoking adult shouldn't need them. Your doctor knows your risk best though so make an appointment and discuss it with them.

If you have any circulatory problems or varicoise veins, then it's advisable to wear them.

We didn't take any flight socks with us, just kept walking upto first class and back, it felt alright really, and whenver you can stretch your legs under the seat in front, just make sure you don't kick the person in fronts legs :P

My wife wears them and they make a big difference to her, her ankles really do swell up without them.

Some shops are a rip off on these. Pop into Tesco they are very cheap there just a couple of pounds and my wife thinks they are great..

If you are on the contraceptive pill it might be advisable to get some socks because you are at a higher risk of blood clots.

I got my socks from boots on a buy 2 get the 3rd free.
