Don't buy anything here!

I needed a new memory card, and wanted a 512MB compact flash card. I knew Disney would sell them, but wanted to see if I could get it cheaper elsewhere. I hadn't been organised enough to take a list and directions for Circuit City and Best Buys with me :slapme: and we couldn't find any anywhere in the dark.
Only place I knew of was Sony shop at Crossroads shopping centre, so we called there on the way back from Premium Outlets one night.

There were two salesmen and a security guard so it was a bit off-putting. They didn't have any 512 but could offer me a 256 for $80

"What?!!!" I said    $80 for a 256??? I wouldn't expect to pay that for a 512. I told them I could get a 512 for about £30 ($50) in the UK and had looked at US websites before I left and seen them for about the same price.
He offered me a 256 for $50 but that was still overpriced IMO, so I made a hasty retreat.

I found a 256MB (no 512 in stock) at the camera shop at MGM the next day for just under $50. The same price the guy at Sony had eventually dropped it to, and still overpriced but I needed the card

I've just checked and amazon.com have the 512MB CF card for $49.88.

So if you think you may need extra memory cards either buy them beforehand or take directions for Circuit City and Best Buy with you

yeah I had the same experience with them :( whilst I was there though, several holiday makers bought stuff at stupid prices so I can quite see how they survive.

Also, check the electronics department at Target. Their 256MB SD cards were well priced in December, 2004. They were out of the 512 cards the two times I was there.

Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City and CompUSA will have the best prices. Even Walgreen's and CVS (pharmacies) will have better prices than any of those SONY or "discount electronic stores" you see all over I-Drive and the tourist areas.

I once pretended to be a tourist and went to several of those places just as an experiment. Prices were horrendous and most did not even have curent models of anything.

Don't be fooled by any of them!
