View Full Version : What should we do now big thrills are out?

Previous trips to WDW and DL have always included the big thrill rides. These are no longer a possibility for DH so I would welcome some ideas of shows, rides etc. that we may have rushed by in our thrill seeking days.
I would also like to know if any-one with Angina has gone on Test Track?
It took me until the second visit to go on TOT and without Bach's Rescue Remedy and motion sickness tablets I do not enjoy a lot of rides but Test Track I could always enjoy and wondered if it would be ok for DH?
The Disney site says no to almost everything and we would never risk an extreme ride but wondered if you are familiar with rides are some more thrilling than terrifying and so can be rode?

We don't really go on the big rides only because everyone else in the family do not want to go on them and I don't want to go on them by myself, but hey we have a great time any way, there is just so much to do and see :D

I hate thrill rides and never go on any at Disney! and I always have a great time :)
There's like what? less than 20 thrill rides? and hundreds of non-thrill things :)

I don't know how you can't do thrill rides! The point of them is to make u scared, so being scared is not a good excuse!!! :D
But it's true, there is soooo much to see it's unfunny... some good ones are:
Mickey's Philharmagic MK
It's tough to be a bug AK
Honey I shrunk the audience Epcot
Spaceship Earth Epcot
Rafiki's Planet Watch AK
Lion King AK
Parades (I tend to miss these as I'm dashing to rides when they're on, but hey I've got many more years of Disney visitation)
Great Movie Ride MGM
Fantasmic MGM
Backstage Tour MGM
Little Mermaid MGM
OK so they're all good and the list is practically inexhaustible, just grab a park map on the way in and it'll show all the show times n stuff!

I'm not against being scared :) good horror movie in the dark etc. but I hate the feeling I get when I'm up on the top of a rollercoaster waiting to fall all the way down. It's not scared, I really truly don't think I'm going to come to any harm at all, but its just not a feeling I enjoy at all!

Fair enough then... probably the same feeling I get when I'm about to eat a mushroom. Not nice.

Pardon me for sounding ignorant but what does Angina have to do with not being able to ride the thrill rides? I mean I know what Angina is as my mother suffered from it, but it never stopped her from doing the things she wanted to do.

Talk to your DH's doctor to see what he/she recommends.
There is so much to do besides thrill rides! If it fits the budget, take one of the backstage tours for some additional information. I believe there also are books available with a lot of information about the details that make WDW possible!
I don't do thrill rides and never lack for things to do! :)

Thank you for all the advice. I hope I did not come across as thinking WDW was only about the rides. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and people watching and we are looking forward to taking things at a gentler pace and enjoying the parades, Christmas decorations and shows.
Re the angina, he has been told not to become unduly stressed if at all possible, there are other heart and circulatory problems.

I would ask the doctor. I have some heart trouble (still undiagnosed) and was told that I could do what I felt I could do. I just avoided anything that went upside down and avoided TOT and mission to space.

i agree taja, there is a mountain of things to do at WDW besides the white knuckle stuff, one day is not nearly enough time to do the parks and see absolutely everything there is to see :D

I would most certainly check with the doctor, but honestly, I don't find TT to be too intense. Essentially it's a "ride" through some areas that simulate vehicle testing (there is one spot where you may be startled, but it's not terribly scary) and then the grand finale finish which is simply whizzing around the outer perimeter reaching a speed of about 64 miles per hour. Heck, I drive faster than that every day.
On the other hand, the doctor know's best, so do check first.
I'd avoid Mission Space by all means and Tower of Terror and RRC. Space Mountain too. Those are pretty intense!
