South Beach, Miami Hotels

I really need help on this one. We plan to stay in Miami for 3 nights to tour the upper keys, Everglades, Miami etc. Has anyone any recomendations or experience of the hotels in the South Beach area. I've looked on a few sites and Expedia but the hotels seem a bit pricey. I was expecting to pay £60-75 per night but maybe I'm being a bit over-optimistic. Any suggestions on hotels and who to book through (online)?
