O.k after hours and hours searching on line and phoning numerous insurance agencies. I have a decent quote. The thing is my dd is due major surgery in June. Fine not a problem when i had an original quote. I was told £58. The day after i had the quote she had her first seizure in 7 years. I phoned back to see if the quote would be any different  £213. So i phoned around and these so called special one for medical reasons were up £400:eek:     . I went back to Direct travel insurance and agreed to take the £213 one out. They said i had a 14 day cooling of period. So spent all night on internet and all morning on phone. I finally got it down to £109:) still not cheap but much better. So i phoned to cancel the other one. A bit of work to do on it as i have to send policy back and then they will reimburse.
If anyone has conditions like epilepsy, diabetes then i suggest when you search type in travel insurance for people with etc ..... (you know what ever your condition is) as there are cheaply priced travel insurance out there. If you are like my dd who has everything under the sun then it is keep phoning until you get the best quote. I got ours from essential travel on 08703430024 (not sure if i can do that :sorry: if i cant).

Glad you managed to find it cheaper. I did a lot of searching for our insurance, a lot of places wouldn't even cover me  I saved a small fortune in the end. It certainly does pay to shop around

We had the same problems with my dad as he was over 65 and had heart problems - it can make the difference between being able to afford a holiday and not :(

DH was diagnosed with diabetes after we had booked our last holiday so, being responsible, we rang our insurers to see if it made a difference. We had to pay an extra £72. :(

Our DD had neurosurgery last November and until then suffered seizures daily. She has been seizure free since but we had real difficulty getting insurance cover, particularly as we are travelling to the States (insurance company quite ok about pointing this out).

Anyway, we were passed (by Columbus Direct) to a company called Mediquote who have covered the whole family (five of us) for £240. It is expensive but its is also reassuring to know we are adquately covered.

Hi

My wife suffers with epilepsy and yes it is hard to get travel insurance.
However normally use TESCO because they are reasonable, however i found out by mistake that essential travel do medical screening for Travel Care (Travel agent)
Basically i had had a quote from a medical company and screening from Essential however did not take up the quote too expensive.
Then my booked though travel care and took out the travel ins however did not realise at the time that she had a Herna - so when calling the screening line they could not find any of my mums detials only my wifes! - So when i spoke to them they advised that they only take a premium to cover medical conditions, and then send you a letter to confirm they are covered. so if you have taken ins with the TA then you would only have to pay the premium! dam wish i had known this at the time! however i'm glad to hear they were able to cover you.
