You could buy some bisquick as you can make pancakes and waffles with it.:eat:

Top of the world pancakes- from Disney book.
1 egg
4 tablespoons oil
third cup milk
third cup water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups buttermix pancake mix
4 tablespooons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder

with a whisk mix egg, oil, milk, water and vanilla in a bowl.
in another bowl blend pancake mix, sugar and baking powder. gradually add dry ingredients to liquid mixture, mixing well with a wisk.
cook pancakes on a lightly greased griddle over medium heat ( frying pan just as good) using about quarter cup batter for each pancake. When top of pancake is dry turn and cook for 1 to 2 minutes longer.

I would say the mixture is the same for waffles. Although apart from bisquick, i would not know were else you could buy american pancake mix in the uk. Although you might be from the states:shrug:. You may find the iron comes with a recipe.
For the strawberries in syrup you should be able to buy it in a tin in a good supermarket. And don't forget the cream. Squirty will do. ( that stuff in a tin.)

Here's a popular one.

Here is a site with several!

And here is one that will make you feel very responsible. :D

I use a combination of flour when I make waffles, buckwheat is a portion. It adds a nice complexity.

The strawberry topping is simply fresh berries, cleaned and sliced if very large in a simple syrup of water and sugar (to taste).

If you have a favorite strawberry jam or preserve, you can melt that and use it. Nice.

A drizzle of dark chocolate over the strawberry topping is a nice touch too. :D

Also, some folks like to add malt powder to their waffle mix. It's a nice element.

Have fun! Let us know how the waffles work out!

Get one of the Americans to explain political lobby groups to you. I'd do it but it just makes me cross. :hissy:

If you have a costco near you (UK) they stock waffle and buttermilk pancake mixes - and a few more obscure US foodstuffs
