Hi, our plans have changed again from a studio holiday to a full blown 1br holiday. Can anyone suggest what items we would need for a 1br?
We are going to use Quicksilver transfer service that includes a 30 minute stop at a supermarket. We will be coming from RPR at US to OKW. We have never driven in Orlando, so I have not been to the supermarkets before, apart from Goodings at Crossroads for very expensive Strongbow!
So now we have a kitchen, fridge freezer, washer dryer, proper plates and cutlery etc the world is our lobster.
What things should I pack, washing tablets etc?
I know we have ages but I'm getting excited and want to do Disney stuff constantly.

Ooo, I'd be interested in this too as my mum and dad are staying in a 1br :)

To start you off, I'd say basics like bread, milk, eggs, juice, butter/marg.

Do the supermarkets over there sell small packs of washing powder and dishwasher tablets?

Paula if you are paying for OKW and not a member of DVC do you get the dishwasher tablets, dishwashing liquid provided?

I guess apart from the essentials of beer (good thinking Paula) and crisps/chips you could also get a case of water to take to the parks with you and some fresh fruit as you'll get fed up eating junk food :).

Thanks for the replies, yes, a case of water, good idea!

Just a question, we will be arriving at OKW first thing. Now I know that the room won't be ready until around 4pm, but do the checkin staff offer you a fridge to put your groceries in? Ian

You should get a starter pack of detergent...just enough for one washer load.
Soap and toilet tissue will also be there waiting for you on arrival.
Apart from that, I can`t remember there being any thing else apart from the usual things you`d expect like towels etc, etc.. [Mind you, it`s been a few years now since we we there so things may have changed]

You'll need salt and pepper. Be sure to bring/buy something to wrap food in (cling film or aluminum foil).

I've never had to buy extra dish detergent, but you will need clothing detergent. Pack those tablets that don't spill.

Try to stop at a SuperWalmart or at least a Publix. The prices are much better than the horrid goodings!

You'll want snacks of course. :D Drinks (do make sure you have enough water, the stuff out of the tap is pretty vile) and whatever else pleases you.

Publix has a wonderful selection of ready made/ready to cook meals like pot roasts with the "trimmings" BBQ beef and pork, stuffed chops, quiches, etc. You won't have a bit of problem finding food.

You will be able to leave all your perishables with the check in staff. They'll refrigerate them for you.

So, do they provide some dish detergent?

Yes, both hand washing and machine washing. I've not ever had to bring my own.

OH! Coffee filters. Bring regular round ones if you are coffee drinkers.

We did this last year and was at a total loss in the supermarket for 30mins.
We ended up with couple of crates of beer, case of orange juice and 2 crates of water put this in the freezer and took 2 bottles each day into the park ice cold water all day.
A lovely fresh loaf and some butter/jam and cold meats.
microwavable waffles.

We had already packed small sachets of washpowder.

OKWTink are these provided if you are not staying on DVC membership?

I don't know triciacarole, but I think they are. Salt and pepper won't be though. They took those out of the villas several years ago citing health laws.

Oh, there are rolls of paper towels in the villas. (Not that they work for coffee filters, just thought I'd mention that the villa provides them).

Thanks , we don't really use S&P.

Ah, well that's one less thing for you to worry about! If you did find yourself needing some, it's a simple matter to pick a few packets up at a counter service place.
