Hi, my husband and I are considering going to WDW for Christmas. Which hotel would be best to stay at during this time? We have a daughter who will be 2 and a son who will be around 8 months old. Which hotel would be best for the children during the Christmas period?

They are all wonderful at Christmas (and any time actually). It truly depends upon what you want to spend, and then where you want to be (location wise).

With small children many folks like to be on the monorail (Poly, GF, Contemporary) given it's proximity to MK. However, those are the pricey deluxe resorts.

The value resorts are very nice and beautifully decorated in their own right at the Christmas season. I've never had a problem with the bus transports from those resorts, even struggling with strollers. :D

So, it really is a matter of where and how much?

Thank You! Will look into the Contemporary. We haven't stayed there yet and it would be great to have the monorail on your doorstep.
Thanks again!

Here's another wrinkle to throw in. :D With little ones you may want a suite or a two (or even one) bedroom vacation "home away from home" resort. That would allow you to put the little ones down for a nap behind closed doors. This allows more freedom for those who are not napping. :D

Wilderness Lodge is a Home Away From Home vacation club resort and is still pretty close to MK, although not on the monorail. It does have boat service along with bus transport.

That type of set up would provide you with a full kitchen (refrigerator alone is great for drinks, food, etc.) and a laundry room. :D

That sounds great! You know a lot! Thank you!
This is going to be a very difficult decision, everywhere sounds so great!

It's because I am a serious Disney Freak. :D

The easiest thing to do is decide how much you are going to spend on accomodations. Then select the resort that comes within those parameters.

Remember too, if you chose a HAFH Villa, you can potentially decrease the cost of your dining budget if you plan on having meals in your room, or even carry some foods to the parks (like lunch). It makes a big difference.

When I've gone with children, I usually have breakfast in the room (although did have a special character breakfast once in awhile) lunch back at the resort and then dinner carried in (sandwiches, yogurt, etc...) or again, sometimes dinner in the park. Depending, on the situation, I would sometimes carry substantial snacks into the park on the late afternoon return, and then have a light dinner when returning back to the villa in the evening.

Hope that isn't as confusing as it sounds!

Thank you so much! We will be doing some research on the HAFA villas and Contemporary!

So, could we book to stay in a villa at Wilderness Lodge even though they 'belong' to the DVC?

Yep, you can book anywhere as long as there's room.

Ok, great thanks.

All booked up now over Christmas and New Year! This will be the first time we have ever celebrated a major holiday at WDW!! So exciting!

Whilst talking to the travel agent we couldn't resist booking up for Halloween! Naughty I know, but....it's WDW!

We stayed at TC during the beginning of the Xmas season once & to be honest, their decorations were a little to, uh...., contemporary for me:D It was pretty as all Xmas deco's are pretty to me but just not to my taste. To me one of the prettiest is the Wilderness Lodge. You really feel the holiday at that place! I don't think you can go wrong though as they all decorate up pretty fancy!
