Looks like they are going to offer a tame (non-spinning) ride to one of the four centrifuge systems. This will enable guests who want to experience the ride but don't want the intenseness of the ride, or shouldn't due to health or those prone to motion sickness.

erm............ wont be much of a ride then

Are they going to put a log outside splash mountain for people to sit in who don't want to get wet?

The ride is a thrill ride - they have a bazillion warnings up to tell people about the effects of the spinning. Without the centrifuge it really wouldn't be much of an attraction.

Presumably this will mean bigger queues for prople wanting the thrill ride now

Maybe they should focus their efforts on sorting out the 'Wonders of Life' barely open pavillion and replacing Universe of energy

With the G force gone and the capsule still rotating up,down etc, you would surely feel very sick by the end...

it will be like star tours, motion sickness city :p

I guess you've still got the simulator ride bit

Strange decision, perhaps the two deaths on it have scared them a bit?

Ive just been reading about the changes - I'm not sure it really is in response to recent tragedies: I think it may be due to actual numbers choosing/not choosing to ride.
No matter how busy Epcot is when we're there, MS has had no lines (queues) - its been a walk-on each time - unusual for such a recent attraction. I havent yet ridden so wait outside with DD2 who Im not sure would like it and find there is always many others waiting too, preferring not to ride. I know this happens with many rides but MS is the one I notice a larger number waititng outside than actually waiting in the lines to go on.

I would love to try it, but I get motion sickness way too easily. I thought I was going to freak out on Body Wars and Star Tours, because I was so sick.

Oh ducky that's too bad. I have some inner ear problems that make these types of rides iffy sometimes. The first time I rode it I felt ill for a while but the second time I got smart and took dramamine and I had no problems at all. This is a fab ride!

I'm not too upset about it, those are really the only rides that I tend to get sick on and with WDW there is always so much more to see and do.

thats such a shame cos its a brilliantly well done ride :D

Not to worry for the people who want the thrill ride part. There are four centrifuge systems, each containing 10 pods. From what I understand, only one of the four systems will be non-spinning, although the article that I read said "at least one", so it can still be rode as it was originally intended.

IMHO, I think they are making the change (starts early summer) because people were bypassing the ride, maybe they were scared from what they've been reading  It really hasn't had any good press lately :(

I think this is a great idea for people who like to ignore those signs. Its a choice, so it won't effect those who want to go thrill, but still, I can see where it looses some of it's edge.

Love the log idea by the way

But then it's kinda just like watching a movie and playing with buttons. You wouldn't think Disney would compromise on such an inventive idea. Doing things only half-way is not in true Disney style!

you do have a point, it does somehow undermind what the company stands for..
