...anyone done this?
I always assumed you needed a scuba certificate to do this but it doesn't mention it anymore!
SW site says you now wear an "all-new underwater helmet"

I want to do this:hyper:

It's much cheaper than the one at Blue Planet at Ellesmere Port, and I was gonna get that for DBF's birthday last year...

I've just found an article on the New York Times about it, and they say that a scuba dive is $150 (proof of certification is required) and $125 for a Snorkel swim. The session is about 2 hours with 30 mins spent in the water and includes 2 days admission to the parks... I believe you go down in a cage but I'm not too sure... Children under 10 are not allowed

It also gives a Shark Program no to call for more info (800)406-2244

Hope this helps a bit!

DD has her scuba certificate but we don't, as she is only 13 I wonder if they will let her go without us. Blue Planet would not let her do it as she was under 18.

There's some more info about it here... I'd drop a line to Seaworld and ask them about it... personally I shouldn't see why not as she is qualified and I should think somebody would be in the water with her at all times...

If she is allowed, then book it as a suprise for her!!

I've checked on another part of the website... all it says in the small print is that you have to be over 10. In some of the other it says the standard 'below 18s must be accompanied by an adult' so I think you've got a good chance of getting your DD a place! I'd still call to check first though if you're planning on booking it!!

It also comes with a booklet, a t-shirt and a photo... which might ease the pain of having to part with $150 :D

I got it off a Times article off Google... But I've since checked on the Seaworld website and there seems to be nothing on there, so I'm guessing the NYTimes must've gotten it wrong

Just got a reply back from SW......

Thank you for your e-mail. Our Sharks Deep Dive program is available for all
guests 10 years old and over. You do not have to be scuba certified and we use a helmet that allows all of our guests to breathe underwater during the dive.
It is safe to keep your contact lenses in. The helmet fits over your head and rests on your shoulders so the water level will be about to your chin when you are looking straight ahead. There is also a communication device in the helmet so you can talk to the other diver and to the aquarium staff above.

If you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Sea World Orlando Education Reservations

WOW well done SW for a speedy reply!! I wonder if 2 people can dive together or if it's diver and instructor?!

If it was affordable, how ace a day would that be? Start the day with an Adventure Express Tour to be front of all the lines, reserved seating at shows, touch a penguin, feed the animals, lunch, then a shark dive, followed by the Polynesian Luau!!! IF ONLY!!

save save save!

That's good to know!! But still $300 for the both of us :S

I could foresake the 'extra' shark swim in Typhoon Lagoon (which would be $35), and perhaps not do Medieval Times (which would be $50 each) - as we're already doing Dixie, Luau, and perhaps Wonderworks on I-Drive! So that's $135 towards it....

Must find something to sell on Ebay!!

Oh, Isafari - Do you know the times of the Makahiki Luau?
