We are going to hiring a car for our stay as we are staying off site.
I am 27 and have been driving for 10 years so will def be allowed to drive hire car
However, my DH is 40 but has only been driving for 1 1/2 years. I had heard that you must have held a licence for 3 years before being able to drive in US
Can anyone confirm this?

You would have to search individual car rental websites and read their Terms & Conditions. They may differ.

This is from usrentacar for example :
drivers must produce a full driving licence from their Country of residence (we cannot accept bookings from U.S. or Canadian driving licence holders), which they have held for at least one year.

Most car hire firms allow 1 year of license if over 25 so you should be fine, but remember to check the small print!
