I've seen so many good comments on this board about OKW. If this DVC is so great, why are their resale points cheaper than everyone else's? And why is only 439 points for a Grand Villa during Dream Season, when the other resorts are about 600 points for the same week?

We're looking into buying resale points and am just curious. Thanks for all of your input!

OKW was the first vacation club resort. They have the largest villas and one of the most spacious resort settings (SSR is right up there for spaciousness too). Parking directly in front of the villa is another plus. Four pools make it nice too. Ferry to DTD. Bike paths, walking paths and golf course all add to the niceness. Lowest dues too! :D

However, OKW is no longer available through DVC. You would have to buy resale if you want OKW.

Sorry, but what is DTD? Any idea what the dues ranges from?

It's Down Town Disney. I own DVC at Saratoga Springs but I'm not terribly well versed in the dues area. There are a lot more knowledgeable people around that will help you on that part of your question :)

I'd love to do this, we looked into buying at the Boardwalk Villas a while back but decided to get a larger house here in the UK.

Main house beats out a vacation house everytime :)

So, any idea why it's the cheapest on resale and has the lowest dues?

No real idea, but would guess that it's because it has been around the longest. Dues, again not sure (but certainly not complaining! :D ) other than it is a huge DVC so perhaps the number of owners helps keep the dues down? Also, it was not until very recently that there was a slide at the main pool (which necessitates life guards). Previously it was just a large and lovely pool with no life guards. That would have kept the cost of the dues down a bit.

Also, since it was built so long ago the supplies and materials used were of good quality and have not had to be replaced like some of the other DVCs. Poor Boardwalk Villas has nearly been totally replaced due to shoddy construction materials (the Inn too, not just the DVC).

So, those are my guesses. People paid less for their points so they sell for a bit less on resale.
