Felt the need to put spoiler in the title so I didn't ruin anything for anyone.

Was Chick supposed to be Dale Earnhardt? I know the King was Richard Petty.

I don't think so. It seems as though he wasn't modeled after anyone. There were points where they had Dale Jr Car in the movie, so I can't imagine that they modeled the actual race cars after any particular drivers.

At least I didn't think so, I could be wrong. I did pick up on the Richard Petty, though, since they used his number and his old school car from years ago.

I don't think so either...since "Junior" was in the movie a couple of times....I'm not sure he was modeled after anyone...

Such a GREAT movie...thanks to JM and Mister E for reminding me to stay for the credits...they were some of the funniest bits!

Well the grill looked like Dale's mustache. Plus his style of driving and tapping people made me think of Dale Earnhardt.

Hmmm...I think their are still to many Dale fans out there for Disney to take the chance of bad mouthing him...no?

From this section of Nascar country, there are indeed plenty of diehard fans.

I didn't think they were bad mouthing him though. Even Alysia asked me during the movie if it was him. And we are so not Nascar fans in this house

Well....not bad mouthing really...but didn't you get the impression that he was the "bad guy" in a manner of speaking? The conceited car?

 exactly why I thought of him as well! He was one cocky son of a gun. I don't suppose they called him The Intimidator for nothing.

Intersting Johnie, guess I hadn't thought about it that way...

The movie also reminded me of Doc Hollywood.

I think the movie, as a whole, was modeled after Doc Hollywood, with the obvious twists.

It was nearly the exact same plot line...

LOL!! I'm listening to it right now. It's good but there's not a lot of songs on it. I love the James Taylor song:)

My local paper gave it two starts basically calling it a cartoon Doc Hollywood. I left the theater and told Mister E I thought it was exactly like Doc Hollywood. I still liked it though :)

Not being into NASCAR, I didn't realize that any of the characters were meant to represent a "real" person...

I'm not really into NASCAR either but I thought it was supposed to be Dale and Richard Petty myself.
