I booked this today simply because I know the kids will enjoy it but Ive noticed all different opinions on here about DWS.

Is there anyone who has absolutely loved/loathed it who can give me advice on how to get good seats or get best value from this experience?

We did this last year and really enjoyed it. heck anything with unlimited beer has to be good  The only thing that we'd say could be improved was the choice of food, im not a fan of seafood and Jo's quite choosy and I ended up taking a few things from the kids selection  There seemed to be quite a lot of garlicy things which I love but Jo wasn't keen. But there was a decent choice of dessert :eat: Servers were nice and efficient, and Shamu puts on a nice show, which thankfully doesn’t involve the throw water over the side scenario :rain: We'd certainly do it again!

He'll probably need the drink if I am driving!

Last time we didnt even get out of the hotel car park before he lost his temper, I was in tears and we'd swapped seats back to me being passenger.

He's been warned that he cant do that this time!

My husband and I did this on our honeymoon trip at the beginning of this month. Unfortunatly I dont think you can pick where you sit. It is just luck. We did get to sit next to the wall. But even the tables that are back a row have a good view. The buffet was average but we were there for the expierence. It is alot of fun and if you have children they will love it! I would recommend getting there at least 15 minutes prior to your seat time. Once they let you in they take your picture and then someone seats you. As soon as you get seated you can head to the buffet to get your food. We were there fairly early and had already gotten our food before everyone had been seated which was great because we were not fighting the lines.

Do they have chairs big enough for Shamu to sit in? Seems like he'd take up alot of room at the table...

I have noted this is worth a try, could anyone please point me in the right direction (how to book) and is there a quick view on the buffet/menu options?

I booked this last week, getting the number from the Seaworld website. I thought I had it handy but must have thrown it away..sorry. Yiu are asked which seating you want and have to pay by credit card at the time of booking. Hope that helps you a bit

We did this in May and we were very disappointed with it. The food was average, there wasn't very much choice and what there was we didn't like very much. Oh and if you sit closest to the wall, once everyone is seated, it is very difficult to go and get seconds or a dessert. There is hardly any space between the tables, they seem to cram in as many people as they can.

The interaction is OK, Shamu swims around whilst you are eating and then a trainer comes out and talks a little about how they train them to do things, then you get a couple of jumps and they slide onto the wall in 3 different places. It's almost over before it began

As for where you sit, your seats are allocated (according to the staff member at the front of the line) when you book, so the earlier you book, the better seat you get I suppose. We were at the front by the wall on a table for 4, but it was just the 2 of us much to the disgust of the family behind who mentioned to the waitress, rather loudly  that it was ridiculous that we should have a front row seat when they had children and were behind. I heard the waitress explain to the mother that we had obviously booked before them.

Gem the cost is $37 for adults and $19 for children.

That is so rude!

This is something that really bothers me. We have paid just the same so why should people without children be treated differently? I will always let a child stand in front of me in parades etc but it's like at Alton Towers. You couldn't go on the Charlie and the Chocolate factory ride before 3pm, unless you were a family with children, it really made me :hissy:

Vikki you can borrow my two if you want, a few years is fine, especially as they are going through the teenage mood swings

True though this is unfair treatment if you don't have kids.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't really sound worth it TBH. no one has raved about the food or the service so maybe we just won't bother. Seems Disney is always the best place to be. :) I think I have caught the Disney "bug"! We are so looking forward to this holiday and I really can't wait to make some new wonderful memories. I don't really remember my last visit very well because there was so much else going on and it was a bit frightening. But I am so excited and we are counting down the days to the holiday!

For anyone that has young kids, the Shamu character breakfast is a good alternative. Good food, great character interaction and a stage show all at a bargain price.

We did this earlier this month. We were told seating is computer generated based on when you make your reservations. We made our reservation for 2 people two days before our dinner. We got front row. But there are only two rows of tables, I do think everyone has a good view.
The buffet is average - plenty of choices and probably something for everyone. Yes, the beer is included.
As for not getting sprayed with water - they announce that they do not ask the whales to spray the diners, but then I saw a whale get the signal to come flap and of course, the water came over the wall. The show is short but very good. The whales swim around the pool table-side before, during, and after the actual show.
We enjoyed this dinner. We would probably not do it again if it were jsut the two of us but would if we took our kids.

OH, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ride sounds so COOL!!!! What's it like??? I wish they had something like that at Disney. (Actually "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" would be better!! That movie was WAY better than the other one!!!!!!!! Showing my age now! )

It's ok, I wouldn't rush to go on it again though.... I think I was just so annoyed about having to wait till late in the day to go on it though
