We are thinking of heading off to Celebration for a few hours on one of our less busy days. We are staying at Pop Century. I was wondering where would be the best place to get a taxi from to get to Celebration. (ie which part of Disney is closest to the road leading to Celebration)
We are off to 1900 Park Fare for breakfast on the day we want to go and will be leaving as soon afterwards as possible. Thanks:D

In that case I would just catch a taxi from the Grand Floridian.

Celebration is the 'Disney' town that was built a while ago. It is a proper community and in the centre is a nice central area with some shops (not known stores), a supermarket, some nice places to eat and a cinema.

We've been there a couple of time and been lucky enough to come across some community events which have been good fun. It is also great just before Christmas as the have fake snow falls, Santa, Sleigh rides and other activities.

There is a Celebration website which gives details of upcoming events. It does make a nice break from the parks for a couple of hours.

As for getting there by taxi, the resorts and parks in the South West corner of WDW are closest (All Stars, Pop Century, Coronado Springs, etc) but for the few dollars you save, then you might as well get a taxi from your own hotel rather than go through the hassle of using the buses.

Yes - we went in the first two weeks of December as it was so cheap and they had the Xmas celebrations running on certain nights then. You will need to check their website for details as it is not widely advertised elsewhere but the kids love it and it has a great friendly atmosphere.

We go there often, great restaurants and just pleasant to walk around and relax...

Just caught myself thinking about how "pleasant" it is to visit and then about the movie Pleasantville, mmm... some similarities

Here are some images from Downtown Celebration:

FYI - There is no more supermarket at Celebration. The Goodings has been closed for a while now.

We go every 4th July for the fireworks, nice town and very friendly. It is not a tourist destination, and the shopping is local shops and a few speciality types. Some nice restaurants but unless it's a special event, I don't know if I would spend money for a taxi to get there just to see it.

SM........the carollers that they have during the Christmas period, are they only on weekends? It will be 28th December when we were planning to go to Celebration, will the carollers and snowfall etc still be happening?

You'll have to check their website closer to your travel dates, Diane.

Celebration was a Disney concept and build, but it was sold to another company a couple of years ago. Not sure about the exact time of sale, but around then! It's a planned community--sort of similar to the original plans for EPCOT, minus the theme park, of course! ;)

It's still a pleasant visit, when you're burned out from the parks and major shopping. Just chill for a few hours. :)
