I have recently developed a knee condition which involves problems walking and standing for any length of time. Having just got back from Orlando I managed with a walking stick - although it did restrict what DH and I could do. DD and me are booked for Christmas at POFQ and I am concerned that I will not be any more mobile by then, it depends on the wait for surgery. Would I be able to rent a wheelchair for the Parks etc? I would be able to get out and onto rides. Do I have to book this in advance?

Yes you can rent them from the parks and they also have them at DTD, you do not need to book in advance but the chairs are on a first come first served basis. You could also hire one from many off-site companies that will deliver a chair to your resort and collect it that way you have it for the duration, particularly useful if you go to the mall. I can't see you having any problems with the rides as long as you can easily transfer on to them, hope this helps and that you get your knee sorted soon :)

Hi Fran! The parks do have wheelchairs and electric scooters to rent, but they are on a first-come/first-served basis. Another option is to rent your own for the length of your trip from an outside company. When DMIL when with us 3 yrs ago, we rented her a scooter from Randy's Mobility. They delivered it to our resort and then we took it with us when we needed it...(she can walk fine on her own, but not for a whole day!) They also picked it up at the end of our trip.

Thanks a lot for the info, I've looked at the pages on here and I think I probably will only need a chair in the parks. DD can push. I'm OK if I walk slowly and use a stick otherwise.

Sorry i am so late. If you want to ride the rides and other attractions you should get a guest assisstance pass. they are free no doctors note needed. just ask for one at guest relations and tell them why. this will act as a ultimate fastpass and will get you into the fastpass. if the cast member tries to take it say no. you keep it for as long as you are in the park. if you need more info e-mail me a e-mail removed by moderator Hope i could help!

I can recomend Randy's mobility. My mil can walk but not around the parks so we hired a scooter for her as it worked out cheaper than hiring at each park. They were great - delivered to the door and gave a quick demo and then pick up again at end of trip. It was really easy getting in and out of the car and we charged it up every evening and it lasted the full day.If you need any further details feel free to pm me.

Thanks for the advice. The holiday is still 'up in the air' I do have the insurance form to cancel but need to see my consultant first. If he says I can go I will certainly get a pass and a chair for the Parks. Fingers crossed

If it helps, we have hired a chair through Care Medical in Orlando for our upcoming trip.
