Banking Points?

I thought I had this banking points thing all figured out, but now I'm confused :confused: ...And of course it's Saturday so Member Services is closed...
We purchased 200 points in January of this year with an October Use Year. They gave us October 2005 points as part of the deal. We banked those (Oct 05) points to use for our November 2006 trip, and are using 61 points from October 2006, for a total of 261. Did I have to bank the remaining Oct 06 points (139) by March 06 or do I have until March 07?

If you go to dvcmember.com and click on 'My DVC' all the info you need for your contract/s should be there. :thumbs:

That's what got me wondering...I was checking to see if we had been moved from the waiting list for BCV and saw a message saying that I didn't have any available points to bank...but I wasn't sure if that was 2005 or 2006 points.

Phone them and bank the points asap, if you leave it until March you may lose 50%. If you got the same deal as us, then you have no 2005 points left, but you do have your balance for year 2006/07 and the points for years 2008 and 2009 will be listed on your DVC website pages for advance planning for cruises, etc.

Sometimes it becomes really confusing when you have Oct UYs because they straddle two calendar years. (My boardwalk points are Oct so I know what you are going through :wink: )

I had to do some banking and borrowing for my sister's last visit in Jan which required careful planning. Finally, I had to just write it down to figure it out! :D

Your Oct 05 points (if they hadn't been banked) would be current from October 1, 2005 through Sept 30, 2006. Your 100% banking deadline for your '05 points would have been March 31st, 2006.

Now for your Oct 06 points: They become current Oct 1, 2006 through Sept 30, 2007. Your 100% banking deadline for your Oct '06 points is March 30th, 2007. (It would be the 31st, except Mar 31st 2007 is a Saturday and member services is closed on the weekend).

..I just wanted to add one more thing about banking points that I didn't quite understand until I actually had to do it.
When I was planning ahead I knew well before I reached current UY that I woud need to bank my points. But, you can only bank points (if eligible to be banked) from your current UY into the next UY. So, in your example, the earliest you can bank your Oct '06 points is Oct 1st, 2006.
