My brother and his family are collecting pins. They are starting out, and I was thinking about getting them one that is fairly hard to get (not too expensive :) ).

My wife and I will be traveling in China next year and will probably visit Disney Hong Kong, cause we will have a few days there with only 2 of them loosely planned. I will definitely get him some Chinese pins.

Any ideas on a cool pin to add to a small collection would be great.

Thank you in advance!

Absolutely no help with pin trading, but it's good to see you on the boards! :)

I think anything from Hong Kong is going to be far more rare than you see at WDW or DL. Look for anything that's limited edition

Just buy as many as you can! they should be cheaper there! And if you're in America in DL or WDW, you could get whatever you want for them!

Now here comes the real dumb question: Where do you buy the pins? Is there a store that says ---> COLLECTABLE PINS SOLD HERE --->

At least at WDW (no reason to think DHK would be any different) you can buy pins almost everywhere. Nearly every shop and kiosk has some pins. As JM mentioned, if you are looking for something unique or special, look for limited edition (LE) pins - especially ones that say Disney Hong Kong.

The few I have... one I made sure to get the year we were there, and I got one that said Cinderellabration because that was the event going on. I got DD into collecting them now, so we stop and shop for pins now. She has also been collecting the fuzzy Disney pens you get at Wal Mart. I think she has about twenty of them.

I have found that when I buy pins for others, there are 2 types of "cool" pins.
(1) the ones with their favorite character on it
(2) a pin that they can use for trading because that's have the fun of collecting, esp. if they see a lanyard pin that they can't buy but would like to have.
