Not sure if it will affect anyone but just found this on the Virgin Atlantic website regarding all flights to the US.

Pushchairs and walking aids must be x-ray screened, and only airport-provided wheelchairs may pass through the screening point. Passengers using their own wheelchairs departing from a UK airport, can contact our Special Assistance Department on 0870 380 2004 with any questions.

I read that Dawn and it would have affected me. Iwould have had a serious problem with the 'liquid' situation too. DS feed is in liquid form and I have to take 100x 200ml cartons in a suitacse which cannot be stored in the hold due to the temperature.

I'm so relieved I have been and am safely home

Is this a permanant situation. As this will cause us major problems in November. I am thinking it might not be such a problem then. My DD is in a wheelchair and will need her's to the flight as she has not sitting ability at all. She also has liquid feeds. I do know i can buy it out there. I do not want to but will if i have to.

I'm sure that there will exceptions to the liquid feed, especially if accompanied by a note from the doctor. I also know that many special needs children and adults have specially adapted wheelchairs and mobility units just for them. Most certainly security is to going to have to allow these on board the airplane.

I would hope so. My DD will be very upset if she were made to sit in a standard wheelchair. She would have to sit on my lap. As she has no sitting ability.

All I can suggest is you work with your Airline's Special Assistance Dept.
They will be able to tell you what is doable.

Surley if pushchirs are allowed to go through then they need to be flexible with wheelchairs. Yes if my DD sat in a standard wheelchair i would agree to her using a standard wheelchair. Is it not like saying if you need a special wheelchair you can not fly  . It would make my DD time at the airport hard and mine.

I really think you need to see what they say nearer the time. You've got a while yet and things could change.
I know in normal circumstances it's great to have everything organised well in advance, especially with any disabilities, but these aren't normal circumstances.:(
