was held from September 8th to 10th at the convention hall in WS, Canada . Which I never even knew existed . With registration at the Comtemp on the 7th . Cindy and I were at the Contemp by 12:30 PM, I never saw so many pin traders in all my visits . We stood in the quenue for about 45 minutes and pre registered . We were given our lanyard with name and pins we had pre ordered . I got all but one, the Mickey Mouse Club Pin LE 200 , which recently sold on ebay for $71.00  but I did get my LE 250 Tinkerbell Cruise line pin . :hyper: I also bought , Bambi LE 400, Cinderella LE 400, Beauty And The Beast LE 750 , which I had signed by the artist . Also, my Tinkerbell Television Series Pin LE 400 , there was no signing on this particular pin . I paid $90.00 for the pin event . I was given $30.00 in gift cards , early registration pin Donald , MGM Mickey Director pin , A coupon for a snack, which included popcorn, cheese crackers, hershey bar and soda And a coupon for a complimentary gift , which turned out to be two beautiful pin sets . It was definitely worth the $90.00 .

I met pin traders from all over the world . Some for the most part were very nice and happy to trade with you . The pin sharks were also there .
The event included tables of upcoming pins from all the Disney parks , Disney Cruise and Disney Shopping. Com . We visited each table and had our form stamped and received another free pin . Nice holiday pins coming out on disney shopping. com .

Also, there were pin trading stations . The idea of this is like what use to be at the resorts . A pin trading board . You trade two pins and get to pick two pins . There were pins which were cast member exclusives , cast lanyards , LE pins, DL, DLPR, WDW , DC , and Euro . Meanwhile, while in line we traded off each others lanyard . It was really a fun time . I ended up collecting the Peter Pan Cast Member Lanyard seires from DL and also got a Halloween Lanyard with Stitch Pins on it from Paris . I traded with another guy from DL , he needed chip n dale CM lanyards from WDW , and gave me LE park attraction ride pins from DL . I brought home a lot of nice treasures .

I have to tell you about the mystery pin cans . They sold for $22.00 each and you received four pins . The hardest one to get was Pluto LE 200 . The pins went from LE 200 - 1500 . I bought two cans and lucked out , don't get two :excited: for me, it wasn;t Pluto . , But I did get 8 different characters . One lovely woman that Cindy and I had been chatting with , said wait, I have an extra LE 400 Stitch , Here ! I couldn't believe it , I'm not use to these type of pin traders . I hugged and thanked her . As we sat outside talking , some other pin traders came out with 25 CANS , $22.00 X 25 cans before tax . They did not get a Pluto out of any of those cans . They were so :censored: . Who would spend that amount of money to try for one pin . Speaking of ...
the silent and live auctions also brought a pretty price for pins .

New pins being released at the WDW parks will no longer be considered cast member lanyards . They are now Hidden Mickey Lanyards and are being reproduced from cast member series 1, 2 3 & 4 . Twelve were released at the event and I got 6 out of twelve . Not A a bad start . :D

Next years pin event will be held at the same convention hall in Epcot . Where Dreams Come True ! Mickey & Figment September 7th to the 9th . I know I will definitely be attending . I highly recommend it to our pin traders on the forum .

:D Sounds like an amazing event. So the pins you ordered were not included in the $90, is that right? You really made some great trades.

No sweetie, they had to be pre ordered . The prices were only $12.95 though for LE pins . You could only purchase them from the event . I bought DH a gorgeous Walt Disney Jumbo Pin with all the characters surrounding him .

That sounds like a lot of fun, although the jargon is going over my head

I am new to this pin thing and don't really know what's going on  As you know I've never been to WDW before though so I have time to learn yet :D

Hayley, please, for the love of God, don't do it!! It'll eat your budget up in a week!

I was in WDW for this last year, but didn't know about it until we got to Epcot the day it started and there were people outside with suitcases of the darn things.

$70 for a pin? I've been there, done that...

One of the reasons we've taken an earlier trip next year is so I avoid this - I know I just wouldn't be able to help myself, and I'd end up spending thousands!!

Id say your report sits best in here Tinker
Sounds like you had a ball  Im still at the collecting stage of my pin trading career, I buy 'em if I like 'em :hehe: I agree with Disneymad though, its very easy to get caught up in the whole pin thing once you get started. Its amazing what people will pay to get hold of some of the rarer pins
Jo just unearthed a bag full of pins she'd bought a few years back whilst having a clear out, we've got quite a healthy collection between us now, a couple she has could probably sell for a good few $$'s too, so we'll be keeping hold of those :p

Sounds like a great day Tinker! Glad you had a good time. I love the special events, they do them so well. I daren't go to any pin trading ones though, the kids would bankrupt me! :hehe:

I bought some of the LE 1500/750 pins at the F&G Festival, they're shoved in a cupboard  Maybe I should check on Ebay

One of the reasons we've taken an earlier trip next year is so I avoid this - I know I just wouldn't be able to help myself, and I'd end up spending thousands!! DisneyMad , Sunday is the last day of the pin event and it opens to all guests . Whatever is left over is then sold and you pay the $12- $15.95 . Of course the ones that sold on ebay for $$$ :faint: were gone from pre order , but there were still a nice selection to choose from . Also, you can trade your pins on the board for limited editions & cast pins from all Disneyworld parks worldwide . It really was a good time . Although , those serious pin traders are  Some people brought those hand trucks and loaded box after box of pin pictures & pins .
I'm trying very hard not to attend this year . But I may be offered the summer teacher's position where I sub . :D So, the wheels are turning . I have to be  I have other trips & a cruise to pay off . If Southwest runs a special and since I decided to renew my AP  Not a definite yet, but I'm thinking about it JM . :D Might just show up after all .

budget allowing I'm going

Tinker is it a pre-pay or a hold with CC?

Tinker
March 28th, 2007, 19:52
It is pre paid as are the pins once you pre order them . The pins don't go on your credit card until closer to the pin event . Definitely pre order the low LE's, they go fast and are a good turnover .   myself, just playing with the idea right now . If I fly down .. only be Thursday evening to Monday morning .

Just went back to my records , WDW deducted my debit ...the end of August for the pins I had pre ordered . I got four and got lucky . Wish I had known about the MM club pin $12.95 , it sold on ebay immediately following the event and brought $200.00 . :faint: Another room deposit right there

Tinker

thats just for the pre ordered pins . The deduction for the event was taken a few days after I registered . I think I did that one in July .
