Wonder if anyone can help please?
Not going to Florida yet (counting down though) but my hubby and dad are flying to Denver in a couple of weeks I just wondered if anyone who has flown to the US recently could tell me how the hand luggage situation is at the moment.
I know as a couple of men they aren't really likely to have a great deal of hand luggage anyway but I was wondering re the mobile phone - will they have to pack it in their suitcases or can they go in hand luggage again yet?
And what about duty frees? My hubby is saying because of the liquid ban he won't be able to get me the perfume I am after - is he just trying to get out of it?
Thanks
Lorraine.

Mobile phones are not a problem in carry on items.
Perfume also, as long as it`s not over 3 fl.oz. will also be ok so your DH is not off the hook !

Thanks for that. I was just a bit worried re the mobile phone as usually when he goes he rings me from the airport etc. and then just as they are boarding, then its the 8 or so hour wait until he lands and rings me to say they are ok. I was worried that if they had to pack the phone it would mean that he leaves the house at about 6 in the morning, then unless he uses a payphone that would be the last I heard until around 10 at night when they got to the hotel and unpacked etc. Since I am not the worlds happiest re flying I really like to have touch down confirmation!!!
And as for the perfume........ if I could find my smilies I would have the pacing backwards and forwards one now, waiting for him to come home and give him my perfume list!!
Thanks again.

Not sure which airport your flying from but at manchester they were offering a pick up on your return service at the duty free shops for perfume and alcohol at the height of the ban not sure if this has changed (they must have been loosing too much money at the shops) ing the airport and ask for the duty free shops and check it out

This doesn`t apply any more.
Your duty free purchases are now delivered to your gate from where you collect them before boarding, just like at Orlando International.

My friend travelled out to Florida on saturday with My Travel and she text to say restrictions had been lifted and she was allowed to take drinks (and she took a few bottles so not a limited amount), mobiles, PSP's etc on no problem.

This was the case with us unless it was prescribed. Once you go down to your gate you're scanned and checked a second time but once through there we were able to buy drinks from a vending machine and take them onto the flight.:D

Oh OK... I guess that makes sense! Will be taking bottle of water on then! Do you think they'll be believe that the contents of my make-up bag are prescribed by the doctor?!

I think officially the rules are still no liquids but as anyone living in the UK knows the airports are always making security mistakes and there maybe different restrictions for different destinations. Doesn't make sense to allow liquids if they can't identify the dangerous ones. Go to www.baa.co.uk (http://www.baa.co.uk) the rules are on the front page can't miss them it says no liquids gels or makeup.

Looking at the BAA site it now states the following:
Following a recent relaxation of security restrictions by the American authorities, passengers travelling to America from BAA’s airports, can now take liquids purchased after security on board flights.
And this:
Further passenger information
Before security: All shops and catering outlets are open to all passengers, but any liquids and gels purchased must be packed into your hold luggage for check-in. Any other purchases must fit into your ONE item of hand baggage.
Once through security: All shops and catering outlets are open to all passengers. If you are travelling to any destination, including the USA, then you can take ALL items purchased, including liquids, in the departures lounge into the aircraft cabin.
So should be OK'ish. I'm glad so we can get our little one some juice after security.

We flew to MCO on Sept 29th and couldnt take any liquids out - even if bought at duty free. You could buy and collect on return though.
No proble to buy duty free in the US and bring into the UK but everything had to be picked up on the gangway to the plane.

Thats what happened coming back last time. I was a bit disappointed. Bought my perfume and wanted a good old squirt and they took it.
Dont mind whether hubby gets it going out or coming home but woe betide him if he doesn't:tut: :slap:
