Having noticed on my cc statement that Dollar had charged me $130 for an "up-grade" on the rental car that we had in Sept/Oct this year, I fired off an email querying this extra charge. [We had rented the identical car earlier this year {Dodge Charger} which is a "Full Size 4-Door" model according to Dollar`s literature and we didn`t get charged any "extras" then, and both cars were pre-paid thro` Virgin in the UK before we left home.]
Having not received any reply, apart from the initial "thank you, we are looking into this" reply by email, I sent them another email to-day...this time worded a tad more strongly than my initial contact!:(
I had a reply back from Dollar almost immediately, apologising and stating that they are going to credit my cc $218.06. :excited:
It pays to check your cc statements in detail.

Why are they refunding you almost 2x as much?
I wouldn't exactly call that complaining, just questioning. Good thing you are observant!

It really is important to account for every single charge on any credit card you may use. I've found enough mistakes to keep me from ever being comfortable about not checking.
One of the favorite "mistakes" that cc companies here seem to like to make is to offer you a 0 % interest rate on a specific purchase and then when the bill comes they've neglected to apply that rate to your account.
I've had that happen several times. Since I don't carry a balance, it doesn't really matter, but I always check anyway!

Excellent, Terry!
We're almost always upgraded at least one class--sometimes two--by the rental car company because our flight arrives late afternoon and all of the smaller vehicles are gone by then. So I really check my statement carefully!
Felt like I was driving a tank this last trip. I usually drive a compact and I was driving a super delulxe full size something or other!
