We paid an overdue visit to Disney's boardwalk this trip and we loved the whole area. Ive been reading up on the Y&BC and both are beautiful, so much so we would consider them for our next trip.
So I was wondering if you would be so kind to vote on this poll and also reply with your thoughts.
Thanks.:)

To me they are both equal. The only reason I voted for Beach Club is that I have stayed at Yacht Club and loved it. :D Want to stay at the Beach Club sometime.

I tend to go for the Beach Club since it's on that side that the DVC Villas are located, but Yatch Club is just as great

I would love to stay at either - the Beach Club was one of my favourite deluxe resorts that we visited on our last trip, I really love the setting.
SM that panoramic photo looking across the water to the Boardwalk is amazing :wow:

BCBCBCBCBCBCBCBCBCBC!!!!! :D It's my favorite, hands down. It's closest to EPCOT, my favorite park. It's closest to the villas, and I'm DVC, and it reminds me so very much of Maine. :sigh:
YC to me is dark, dreary and shabby.

I love the yachtsmans steakhouse... I love the location and the feel so last December we stayed there.
Must admit I was disappointed really. Although it has a nice upmarket feel to me, there's not much of it as a hotel. I know that sounds weird, but we'd come down from our room and there we were by the way out.... there's just not that "much" of it.
Compare with the widerness lodge/polynesian and so on.
I'd try the BC next time for the location though I'm not really enthused by the decoration of it.
The boardwalk always looks interesting though :)

I prefer the Beach club because I think it has a nicer decor. I agree with Tink that YC seems dark and dreary to me. I do like the lobby though.
The other plus is that BC is closer to Epcot. It really is just a short stroll over the bridge. YC seems much longer because it is such a big resort.

Firstly, Yacht Club rooms are NOT dark and dreary at all, they have a bright nautical theme. Beach club rooms are not bright and cheery either, they're just pretty boring, not at all like the room in SM's photos, I think that may be a studio in the villas? I prefer the YC lobby, it's 'classier' if you know what I mean. We have stayed at both and I preferred our room at the YC because we were given an oversize one after complaining about the dark pokey hole they gave us at BC. Quite honestly I don't see how they can call it a deluxe in terms of size. After moving from the Poly to there, I was gutted to be honest. :(
Like Keith said, you don't really feel like you're in a resort, you could be anywhere. If it was just being on the Boardwalk I wanted, i'd stick with the Swan or Dolphin, the rooms are nicer IMO and cheaper!
Another thing I HATE is SAB. I don't like the sand bottom, I don't like the layout (a nightmare with 2 kids and 1 parent swimming getting in and out and not being able to see both children if one child wants to use the slide!) and I hate the fact that everyone gawps as they're strolling along the boardwalk. You certainly won't get me crossing the BW in my swimmers to get to the slide
We're trying BWI next trip, but we booked a deluxe room with the extra space. I took loads of pics of the rooms at BC and YC, i'll try to dig them out for you. I suppose we all like different resorts for different reasons and what I hate, others will love, but that's just my personal opinion. :sorry:

I've got about 100 photos of both rooms/views etc. but these are just a few.
Our 1st room at BC (http://www.wdisneyw.com/photos/data/518/105paula_dec_B_160.jpg) and the view (http://www.wdisneyw.com/photos/data/518/105paula_dec_B_173.jpg). I am not one to complain about something I haven't paid for, a car park/grounds view would have been fine, but I thought the room we got was disgraceful quite honestly. Given that it was New Year and a concierge room we were paying a lot of money for, I felt we had a right to complain. :grrr:
Our Yacht Club room (http://www.wdisneyw.com/photos/data/538/105paula_dec_B_271.jpg) and the view (http://www.wdisneyw.com/photos/data/538/105paula_dec_B_279-med.jpg). Once we'd swapped we enjoyed the location. :)

From the poll results and comments, I may have made the wrong choice when the coin was tossed for BC or YC and I opted for YC :(
Slightly concerned with the comments that it does not feel like a 'resort'
However, taking some comfort from your comments Paula and your photos make me feel better.
I'm a GF girl at heart and we are only going this year due to the free DDP and the 3 free nights at the YC/BC that VH were offering. We were going to give it a miss this year. DH tells me I must not compare with the GF. I'm not sure what to expect now :sigh:

Debbie, the reasons I didn't like it as much are mainly because our kids are younger and it doesn't suit our needs as much as the Poly/monorail resorts do. We did like the Boardwalk which is why we're trying BWI at Easter for a few nights :)
I'd pay little attention to the poll result and make your own mind up, I wish I had! I heard the Beach Club was the better of the 2 so I chose that. I can't tell you how disappointed I was. They both share exactly the same facilities so it does just come down to the room. I feel the extra few yards you walk from the YC is irrelevant given the walking you do while at WDW! :hehe: Sure, the BC lobby is brighter, but it's like a zoo in there most of the time. Folks are checking in for both the BC and BCV or waiting for tables at Cape May and it's always packed. I prefer the YC because it's quieter and as I said before it feels that little bit more 'elegant'.

Thanks for that Paula, I'm breathing a little slower now. I'm just flicking through this site and my guide books frantically reviewing the hotels.
Of the two, I think the YC sounds like it is more to my taste. I have some ADRs lined up back at the GF (Citricos& Narcoosees :fingers:) - DH says he will have to drag me kicking and screaming back to the YC :rotfl:

So the extra you pay for is the view and the lounge?
PaulaK
January 10th, 2007, 13:55
Basically the lounge (and the bathrobe I think LOL!). Concierge has 2 view categories, regular and water like the other rooms. I would stay at the YC again, but not concierge, we didn't rate it very highly compared to the GF/Poly offerings.

Thanks for all the info and opinions P. As always you give a great report, lovely pics too.
Deb you'll be fine, as Paula said it is the more elegant of the two. I know you love the GF but the offer you had with the free nights and DDP was great! TBH I would have booked straight away if we weren't planning other things this year.
The reason I did this poll was really to see how much people's opinions differed. Sorry if Ive put anyone out :sigh:
We loved the Boardwalk area when we visited at Christmas time and are really considering it for the next trip. So hence the interest.:)

We stayed at the BCV last year and quite agree with a lot of what Paula has said.
The lobby in YC is nicer IMO. BC lobby is VERY busy especially with people waiting for Cape May
I found guest services at BC a bit "unfriendly" even had to complain about one rude member of staff.
As for YC being dark and dreary. Well it is darker than BC but I didn't think it was dreary.
I found the rooms at BC great but then I was staying at the Villas 1 bed.
SAB is good but could be a problem with a couple of kids. Even with one.
We tended to use the Villas pool.
Overall I loved BCV. Proximity to EPCOT is a REAL bonus, ESPECIALLY because of all the walking you do while at WDW. I just loved strolling over to EPCOT of an evening and wandering round the World Showcase
I wouldn't heshtate to stay there again, or YC either

BCV was a whole different kettle of fish compared to the BC. Despite them being the same resort area, we had completely different opinions on them. We really liked the villas and would definitely stay there again too!

I voted for the Beach Club . I stayed there last May and absolutely loved it . I visited the Yacht Club and it was nice, but for some reason I didn't get the feel that I would want to stay there . I agree with Keith , I love the Yachtsman Steakhaus, but it seemed rather dark in the lobby . Oh and the YC had a nicer gift shop, but being right next door, I just popped over .

I voted for the Beach Club; we stayed there in July '05. We loved it; especially the pool and decor. We had a standard view room that faced a courtyard type area, on the ground floor. It was great, really!
I know it's not in the poll, but I do have to say we stayed at BWI on our Feb. '05 trip and that was probably our favorite. The room was larger, the lobby is gorgeous; we had a blast. DH loved the Leapin' Libations pool bar as well  ! If it wasn't for having two little kids that loved the sand bottom pool at BC, I would have to say BWI is our fave!!!
Having said that, on our return this coming summer we will be at the Swan and Dolphin due to the great August rate. On our previous trips we had Annual Passes and enjoyed the nice savings on the deluxe rooms. This time we'll be regular folks with Park Hoppers, so it's the Swan for us!
