Hi all,
I have posted a "Greetings from the UK" thread in the "Introduce Yourself" forum, and received some nice replies. As our questions and queries will be focussed around our Wedding in September 2007 we have decided to post a new thread here.
We have booked an intimate wedding through Thomas Cook Signature at the Pavillion with the short reception at the GF. It looks like we'll be having around 12 guests at this point, but we cannot have any more than 18 as this is the maximum allowed per the intimate wedding specification.
So, we are looking to chat to Pavillion wedding people (past, present & future), GF visitors, and of course anyone else who would like to chat to us!
OK, bearing in mind we are from the UK, our initial questions for you guys are...
1) We have been informed that we will not be meeting with our wedding coordinator until 1 hour before the ceremony. Is this normally how it works? Is there no way of seeing them on our arrival to Disney (4 days earlier) along with the Pavillion itself? The reason why we ask this is because we don't want the first time we see the place to be when we are literally walking up the aisle!
2) Will the Limo (4hr charter) pick people up from outside of Disney? We have guests staying on International Drive.
3) Picking photos. We have been told we get 12, and a CD. Do we get a lot more on the CD? Because if this is the case, then we do not need to upgrade a photo package as all of our photos will be available on the CD.
4) Timing & Movements. Our wedding is at 12:00. I think this should last around 15 minutes. From then, I assume our guests move on to the GF for drinks whilst we have a few photo's? does the wedding coordinator lead them? Is it just a short walk to the GF? When we get the GF for our drinks, we are there for around 1 hour max (information obtained from another thread). This should take us to around 13:30. We were then hoping to go into the MK, but we have discovered from our wedding pack (& these boards) that wedding dresses are not permitted in the parks. So that leads us to our next question...
5) What shall we do next? What could make our day complete? We could eat at one of the restaurants in GF. Does anybody have any information & prices on these restaurants? (or point us in the direction where this information lies?). Then we would very much like to go to the MK anyway (change of clothes) with our group of guests, and be there for the fireworks on the evening.
6) Has anyone eaten at the Royal Table in Cinderella's Castle? We would like to do this at some point to celebrate our wedding. Alternatively, we could change & eat there on the day of our wedding with our guests, but unfortunately this means that Claire cannot wear her dress during the meal, which is unfortunate.
Well, I think that will do for now. Sorry, I think there a lot more than 6 questions there, but should keep you guys busy for a while
Thanks in advance everyone!

My cynical take is that they're very disinterested in intimate weddings, they get their promotions etc based on the massive weddings with special bits etc.
I asked the same and she said "I do them hundreds of times a year, it will go fine, it always does, there's nothing to meet about"
It DID go fine but she turned up wearing some kind of very casual, almost slobby raincoat thing and pretty much ignored us the whole time whilst she flirted with the photographer.
If you INSIST, they'll probably meet you earlier especially if you make it less about them and more about seeing the pavilion.
2) Will the Limo (4hr charter) pick people up from outside of Disney? We have guests staying on International Drive.
yep
3) Picking photos. We have been told we get 12, and a CD. Do we get a lot more on the CD? Because if this is the case, then we do not need to upgrade a photo package as all of our photos will be available on the CD.
If you insist, you can get ALL the photos on cd not just the ones they choose. The key phrase used to be "I'm an international guest" which seemed to mean they gave up on getting reprint orders and just gave you the full sized images on cd. They made three attempts to get us a cd with the images on but we finally got EVERY image shot on the day AND on the MK photo shoot day and I had better albums made later from those shots
4) Timing & Movements. Our wedding is at 12:00. I think this should last around 15 minutes. yep its a short walk, yep she'll lead them

yep have a nice lunch at the GF :) then go to MK for the evening...
menus on the main web pages
6) Has anyone eaten at the Royal Table in Cinderella's Castle? We would like to do this at some point to celebrate our wedding. Alternatively, we could change & eat there on the day of our wedding with our guests, but unfortunately this means that Claire cannot wear her dress during the meal, which is unfortunate.
Im not a huge fan of the cinderella castle place although ok yeah, special
We had our wedding meal, in full outfits still, at V&A at the GF but I think any of the GF restaurants would be nice if they're open early enough.
Have a great time... I honestly couldn't imagine getting married anywhere more special and despite really not liking the disney wedding co-ordinators, the memories make me smile

Hi and welcome. Congratulations on your disney wedding:)
I married at the WP in March 05. So I hope to ba able to help you out with your questions.
Keith had already given you lots of info and may I say Keith helped me out LOADS when I was planning my wedding - he's an absolute angel:vibes:
But here's my take on your questions anyway.
Yes that is correct normally. We made a trip 3 months before for a planning visit and to see the pavillion etc. I realise this was a luxury but it is an option.
2) Will the Limo (4hr charter) pick people up from outside of Disney? We have guests staying on International Drive.
Yes most definately. The limo was most flexible. Did lots of fetching and carrying for us.
3) Picking photos. We have been told we get 12, and a CD. Do we get a lot more on the CD? Because if this is the case, then we do not need to upgrade a photo package as all of our photos will be available on the CD.
The Disney package gives you an storybook style album which holds 12 pics. We had all of them on the CD though. We also paid for another photographer which was a great decision I have to say.
Yes ceremony is approx 15 mins and yes the guests go to GF while you have pics. The wedding coordinator leads them and it is a short walk - the limo took our guests over and then came back for us...some people choose to walk though..it is a pleasant one.
Yes about and hour for the Cake and champagne reception.
Thats right no wedding attire in parks
5) What shall we do next? What could make our day complete? We could eat at one of the restaurants in GF. Does anybody have any information & prices on these restaurants? (or point us in the direction where this information lies?). Then we would very much like to go to the MK anyway (change of clothes) with our group of guests, and be there for the fireworks on the evening.
A great choice will be a meal in the GF. We chose Chef's domaine in Citrico's. Your only problem may be it will be a little early...but take look at the info on restaurants on this site and maybe there'll be something for you.
Yes we ate there last Christmas day it is lovely. It would be nice to fit it in somewhere...I have to admit though I was glad I chose a GF restaurant to be able to wear my dress all day:D
Well, I think that will do for now. Sorry, I think there a lot more than 6 questions there, but should keep you guys busy for a while
No need to apologise and yes it did.:D

Welcome to the forums! :)
We had a custom wedding at the WP and GF back in May.
So long as there's no wedding or rehearsal taking place you can visit the Wedding Pavilion on your own. Check the notice board outside to make sure there are no weddings on at that time, and if it's free, you can just go in and look round by yourselves. I've done that many a time.
It's not a long walk to the GF from the WP, but bear in mind any guests that have high heels on, and if it's a very hot day, some may not want to walk.
We ate at Cindy's on our honeymoon and whilst the food isn't exceptional, and it can feel a bit rushed, it was a nice experience. In the middle of the meal the Fairy Godmother asks if anyone is on honeymoon, anniversary, etc, so you get your two seconds of fame :hehe: Also get a nice souvenir photo :)

Keith, Bec & Joanne. Thank you for your responses. We have found them useful. We'll do some digging around for which restaurant to eat at at the GF, it may end up being a lunch thing as opposed to a full blown dinner reception. Claire & I will probably try to fit "Cindy's" in at some point during our honeymoon.
We had a couple of other questions, which I can't think of at the moment, but when I do, i'll be back on here, so keep watching!
Thanks again.

Not yet, but I have a feeling we may get it once we have sent our details back, eg cake, flowers & music choices.
By the way, we have no idea what music we want during the ceremony, only that we would prefer Disney music. We were thinking about "Bibbidi-Bobbiby-Boo" & "Be Our Guest" for the seating, but stuck for the rest. What complicates things is that we don't know what the violinist & pianist are going to sound like for the particular renditions of each song.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to which music to play when? & can anyone give any clues to what they sound like? or even better, a music sample of piano & violin for Disney songs?
Thanks again!

Joanne had Bibbidi-Bobbiby-Boo for her flower girl and it was beyond adorable. It was a violin and he was amazing.

I wouldnt worry about how the piano/violin sounds - it is beautiful. You can choose whichever songs you enjoy really.
We had
Disney songs various for seating of guests
When you wish upon a star for the grooms processional
Bridal march
Tale as old as time for recessional
A whole new world for the first dance.

We had -
Circle of Life for the parents
Bibbidi-Bobbidi Boo for the flower girl
When You Wish Upon a Star for the bridesmaids
Braveheart (Gift of a Thistle) for the groom and his men
Canon in D for me
We had the organ and violin and all the songs sounded fantastic.
I was worried about the sound of things as I don't like the organ, but we saw Bill the organist beforehand and he gave us a demo. The organ isn't just a regular old church organ, it's amazing and can be made to sound like virtually any instrument - even the bagpipes :hehe:
It almost sounds like you've got a mini orchestra in there :wow:

I cry every time I watch the DVD :blush2: Every piece of music was perfect. The whole wedding was amazing. I've watched it back so many times. I think i've only watched my own wedding video twice
You're so lucky AntMan, I wish we had done it instead of caving in to family pressure to marry at home. Good luck with the planning, I hope your day is perfect! :wand:

Oh man, you have a video? I wish we could see it! I don't suppose it's available online is it? If not, any chance of a sound clip?
I know all the songs will sound great, but it's just matching the music type to the entrance of the bride which is what we are thinking about now. I think we have narrowed it down to 1 of 3:
- When you wish upon a star
- A dream is a wish your heart makes
- Some day my prince will come
However, and I would be interested in people's thoughts on this, my personal favourite for the entrance of the bride would be "Beauty & the Beast" aka "Tale as old as time". Of course, it's easy to think that "Beauty & the Beast" is quite inappropriate for a marriage ceremony. Claire thinks people will associate me with the beast!!
joanne
February 24th, 2007, 19:07
Sorry Ant, it's 1hr 45mins long, so no chance of putting online :sorry:
No time at the moment to do clips either :(
From your options, I'd choose When you Wish or a Dream is a Wish.
I've seen people use Tale as Old as Time :)

For a Disney Wedding I think the Phil Collins Tarzan song is a good choice for a first dance - You'll be in my heart...
I LOVE the song Someday My Prince Will Come :D Not sure if it would make a good 'bride' song though  I think the instrumental of Tale as Old as Time would be a great option - it's your wedding, if you want it - go for it :D
I also like the idea of having a bridesmaid's breakfast in CRT  I think Joanne had something similar from reading her TR (correct me if I'm wrong ) - I think this is a lovely idea :)

We had this for the recessional. We love the song and TBH the songs means whatever it means to each individual. Every time we hear this song it reminds us of our wedding...we felt it was a great choice and plus its sounds great as an instrumental - its a beautiful piece of music.
Had you not considered a video Ant?

Yep, we had the bridesmaid's breakfast at CRT and it was a lot of fun :bounce:
If it's within your budget I'd highly recommend getting a video/DVD. The day passes so quickly and in a blur, and it's so nice to have something to watch back and see what actually happened :hehe:

The video is $800, so around £450. The budget is stretched thin as it is. If we were to have any add-ons it would be the Magic Kingdom portrait which is the same price. It looks like you had this done Joanne?

the MK portrait is brilliant  I'll always remember getting picked up from the wilderness lodge to go to MK early in the morning. As we drove in, they radioed to have the lights turned on which happened as we were driving up main street. Amazing to see.
Having the park to ourselves was incredible and even though I think some of the shots they do are pretty cheesy ;) the photographers were responsive to suggestions and the shoot was well worth the money

It does sound good. We see one of our pictures being us walking up main street towards the castle hand in hand & the picture being taken watching us from behind.
I can imagine part of the cost is the experience of being the only ones in the whole park!

Hmm, if I had to choose between the dvd and MK session... Not sure which I'd choose really
If I was having an intimate wedding I'd probably opt for the MK session, but then again, I don't know...
We had a custom and had around 10 hrs of video footage, so for us, I'd definitely choose the dvd.
It is pretty special having the MK to yourself (well apart from a few dozen maintenance workers  ) If you choose the MK session, get it booked asap as they're popular and fill up quickly.
Oh, and have an early night the night before! We had to be up at about 4am for the hair/make-up lady to come and us be ready to be picked up at 6am
We had a great photographer, Paul Looper (who we requested) who said we could go pretty much anywhere we wanted in the park (so long as it wasn't off-limits) for photos. Apparently the DPS boss lady used to be very strict and only a few select locations were allowed, but she's gone now, so they're more flexible.
Bear in mind that there are a lot of maintenance workers around, and trucks parked up Main St, so you may not be able to have any photos done on Main St itself. There were guys tending the flower beds in the hub and Paul had to ask them to move while he took some of the photos.

Hi Bec,
We have just had a look through your pics - they are lovely. We would love to get the MK pics too, but we don't think we are going to go for the video.
I noticed that you have 40 pics before, during & after the wedding, and 8 pics for the MK part. Do you have more at MK?
Also, are the 40 pics part of the intimate package? (I assume you had an intimate package as there were 12 of you?) Did you have 12 in an album & the rest on CD (included in the price?). Did you have any of the MK ones in an album?
Sorry for all the Q's!
Cheers.

You are in MK for approx 1 hour if I remember correctly. It can work out better if EMH is *not* on the day you choose.
Also, Claire wants to know what the "Bridesmaids Breakfast" is?
I dont think its a 'bridesmaid's breakfast' as such thats organised by Disney. Joanne made an ADR for CRT for breakfast that they all went to I think. And Joanne made it really special for them. Lucky things:vibes:

I have only *posted* 40 pics. I have lots and lots more! Yes you have a lot more than 8 at MK ~ you get 12 in a storybook style album similar to the intimate album and you get all the other pics high res on CD and some other pics that they printed but didnt use in the album.
We did have the intimate, with that you get 12 in the album plus the CD with the remaining shots ~ this is the bit that is included in the price.
We did however pay extra for an additional photographer. And I have to say that was one of the best decisions we made ~ the same company did our DVD. He took in the 100's of photos then produced an album of 30, high res CD of all the pics, and a CD with the pics that he digitally enhanced.:D
Sorry for all the Q's!
Dont apologise ~ its a pleasure.:)

Yes I was slightly worried.. but remember even if you're not happy about the choices they make you can always print off the ones you do like and change them:shrug: I understand completely what you mean though.:)
We used the intimate package pics just for the arrival shots, because we had the other photographer. So our intimate album only included the arrivals of which were the ones in the vestibule, the cars arriving, on the bridge, the one where Im entering the pavillion..etc...and we requested them in Black and white so our intimate album was like a black and white storybook of the 'beginning' if you see what I mean. So there were no group ones in this one ...they went in the other one:wacko:

They do a reasonable job in my experience... many truly top tier photographers now don't do proofs or discuss with the client what to put in the albums, because they feel it destroys their artistic plan ;) whether we agree or not with that, as long as all the shots come on cd, it's easy to print your own album off later anyway

Hello everyone!
We have made some decisions about our wedding in September, and we thought we would keep you all informed! :)
Music. We are having "Be Our Guest" & "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" for when guests are arriving, "When You Wish Upon A Star" for entrance of the bride, and "Whole New World" for after.
We are going to go to the Magic Kingdom later in the day after the reception to hopefully catch the parade, but most definitely for the fireworks. We will be eating at Cinderella's Royal Table.
We have also decided to go for the Magic Kingdom Portrait Session! :D
The day after our wedding, we are doing Discovery Cove. :excited:
Claire would also like to see a cosmetologist before the wedding. However, we don't know who to use, or what the prices are. She would like her hair styled, and maybe make-up, although she is quite happy doing this herself. Any ideas or recommendations?
Thanks!

This is who I used - http://www.lisasmagicalweddings.com/
She does loads of WDW weddings, probably the most popular cosmetologist used :)

I just went to the salon at the Cont. Resort. We booked ahead and had my hair and makeup and my mother's lus the bridesmaids nails done. We had a very very good experience there! My step-mom had her hair done at the salon in the GF. She also had a good experience.
Love the music choices! I was just thinking I have to watch my video cause I don't even remember what songs I had!!
Good luck with the rest of the planning!

Update - Problem!
Hi again everyone - not long for us now - just 7 weeks! :)
We have just run into a fairly upsetting problem. We booked our holiday through Thomas Cook who instructed us to put all of our wedding details in our wedding pack, including any dining arrangements we would like them to arrange on our behalf.
We checked with them regarding timing of reservations because we wanted to eat at Cinderella's Royal Table on the night of the wedding for 14 people. The reason why we checked is because Disney recommend booking 180 days in advance. Thomas Cook told us not to worry, they would sort all of that.
We received our wedding pack confirmation details today, and part of it stated "You need to book your dining arrangements with Disney direct", so it's 7 weeks before, we have just called, and as expected, it's fully booked!
Claire is absolutely distraught, as you can imagine.
We are taking this up with Thomas Cook, but the question we have now is what shall we do now? Where shall we eat? I don't believe anything is going to be the same as how we had imagined it all this time, but we have to arrange something.
Thanks everyone,
Anthony & Claire.

Get on the phone with Disney NOW! September is free dining and many table service places are booked solid for the entire month.

JM is right! worry about Thomas cook and complaining etc later, get on the phone and book whatever the heck you can and quickly or you won't have a table service option left for you at all!
After that, I recommend a dual attack. Speak to the highest person you can get to in TC (they wont be able to do anything but you may get some compensation) then speak to Disney and throw yourselves on their mercy. Try and speak to the manager at the resort if you're staying at a disney resort. The manager of the hotel you're staying at is responsible for you whilst you're there and they can get things done if so inclined.

You could try for somewhere like Chef's Domain at Citrico's that the average person doesn't book. It's a private area just off the main restaurant, so you'd get the privacy, but still some of the atmosphere. It's a lovely place and perfect for a wedding dinner IMO. There's a minimum spend but i'm sure with 14 you'd meet it easily. Good luck finding somewhere. :luck:

Unfortunately it appears as though the Chef's Domain can only handle up to 10 people. But as everyone says I would get on the PHONE with WDW right NOW and then see who you can reach at TC. I can imagine that Claire is beside herself, considering as though TC said they would take care of everything for you.

Tell Claire if you eat at a resort she can at least keep her dress on! And I'll send some :Pixiedust your way to give you some luck on finding a place.
They had us booked 1 month early for our wedding dinner. They called us at home on Sept 22 and asked if 25 people would still be coming to dinner at Ohanna's. My DH went blank and told them yes we would on OCT 22! They managed to re-book us. Thankfully. Hope you have the same luck!

Crystal Palace is the only place they have left for 14 people on that day.
So, it looks like we'll be dining with Winnie the Pooh & Friends (& lots of little kids) on our wedding day.
Dreamy.

I know what you mean but you know what? I bet it would make for one of those funny stories you tell later and a TON of great photos.
Still, ok totally not what you want.... how about the downtown disney area restaurants + hotels? What used to be the whyndham opposite downtown disney had one called the outback (not the steak franchise) which is a very nice restaurant, not stupidly expensive but excellent quality and service.
The other perhaps slightly out there possibility is to try and call the restaurants directly. Yachtsmans steakhouse, shulas, artist point etc. and beg the manager for help.

Did you try any of the resort restaurants ? And as Keith suggested there are a lot of nice restaurants on the outer edge of Disney property . What about Fultons at DTD ?

The Hilton (Hyatt??) on Hotel Boulevard by DTD has a Bennihana - nicer than CP

OMG! I can imagine the panic! Still you have CP so thats good.
The resorts restaurants are really good though Ant, consider it as a back up.
We had Chef's Domiane and I agree with Paula it was the perfect place for an intimate wedding reception. We actually seated 12 guests quite comfortably:yes:
Good luck.

I couldn't even imagine getting stuck at CP for a wedding reception dinner. I would really get on the phone with Thomas Cook and raise holy h e double hockey sticks with them.

Yes, what about Shula's in the Dolphin or the new Italian place in the Swan. Those two probably won't be booked up b/c they are not on the DDP.
As I said before, we went to Ohanna's (for dinner, no characters) and we had the last seating at about 9:30 so we were able to watch fireworks out the window when we first arrived. They didn't rush us or anything and we had the place to ourselves by the end of the meal.
Perhaps you could try the Disney Wedding phone number and explain to them and maybe they could help you out?

I totally agree John. In the meantime really think about some of the resort restaurants Ant. There's a lot to offer.

I agree with John as well . I could not imagine sharing my wedding reception with Winnie The Pooh & Gang . I would contact Thomas and really raise cane as he was the one that told you he'd work out the details . Or call guest services & explain what happened, perhaps they can help you . Wishing you Luck & sending you :Pixiedust

Oh dear. I agree with the others about the resort restaurants - and at least your beautiful bride will be able to keep her gown on for longer. :marry:
I'd also give the wedding co-ordinators a try and see if they can help you.
Good luck

Guess what? We complained to Thomas Cook who, in turn, complained to Disney because they did not inform Thomas Cook that they no longer made reservations from the wedding form, and ta da... dinner for 14 at 18:45 on our wedding day at CRT!!!

What a magical place for a wedding dinner. I went there for dinner on my honeymoon and felt so special. I can only imagine being there on my wedding day in my gown. Move over Cinderella, Claire is going to be the new princess in town :). I'm so glad everything worked out for you.

Hi there,
Congratulations on your wedding! I am actually getting married in the Wedding Pavillion the day before you!:)
I booked direct with Disney and so far so good. We are having dinner at Chef Mickey's so I can keep my dress on but it will be lovely at Cinderella's Royal Table.
Who is your wedding co-ordinator?
Who have you booked for your service? I am using Rev Tim Herring.
Best Wishes
