Hello,
My fiance and I are getting married June 14th, 2008 and we will be going to Disney for our honeymoon and I was wondering when I should book our honeymoon? Also does anyone have any good tips for saving money? We are planning on staying at the Port Orleans Riverside resort.

Book it as soon as you can. That way your dates are locked in and if a special rate comes out you can apply that to your already booked holiday.

Saving money. Well... an AP can provide savings on the room rate, merchandise and food. Having snacks in the room, or light fare is a great way to keep the food budget under control. Bringing your own water and non-alcoholic drinks with you is another way.

Bring all your own film (if you use it) batteries, sunscreen and personal products with you. Disney have them, but it is very expensive on site.

Does that help at all?

Yes that is helpful. Sorry I am having a brain freeze what does AP stand for lol? I did know sunscreen and all that is very expensive as we were there in Sept and then we also brought our own stuff saved us a lot lol we just never stayed at disney so I didn't know if there were any ways to get savings on accomodations.

Yes, there are ways to get savings on accomodations. AP is an annual pass. If one person in your party has an AP then that will make you eligible for any AP rates that may be in effect for the time you are going.

There are other codes for discounts too, however the majority of those codes are given to folks who have stayed before.

Selecting a lesser expensive time, is another way to save some money. Christmas is very expensive for example, whereas September is less expensive.

June isn't as inexpensive as some of the other times of the year, as many folks use summer vacations to travel.

Hope that helps a bit.

Contacting a Disney "certified" travel agent can be very helpful too.

Keep an eye on www.wdisneyw.co.uk/resdisc.html (http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/resdisc.html) for discount codes

If you are a AAA member, you can also get discounts on your room. If you are not big eaters, you could share a main course at many restaurants. You get pretty big servings. You could also eat offsite cheaper, but that to me is too much of a hassle.

if you are big eaters, a package with DDP may be the way to go (and you don't have to worry about food costs once you arrive)

Congratulations on your wedding and WDW honeymoon. We also stayed at POR for our wedding and honeymoon ~ its a beautiful resort and romantic too.

Did you know there is a boat that takes you from the resort to DTD?

I had looked into the DDP but I found it too expensive since last time we were there we got all of our food for the week for about $200 combined. We aren't large eaters and I am fussy so my favorite places were all the little food places with fries and such lol.
Yes from what I have looked up about Port Orleans looks very romantic. I did read about the boat ride to DTD, that got me excited lol. Did you have any tips for POR Bec?

Request a room in the mansions section. Far more romantic than the Bayou. Try to catch Piano Bob one night - he's a riot!

totally agree with JM on this one. We were in Parterre Place I think with a water view room - it was lovely.
