'High School Musical 2' Smashes Ratings Records

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Disney Channel's highly anticipated "High School Musical 2" danced its way to history Friday night when 17.24 million viewers tuned in, making the original movie's debut the most-watched basic cable telecast of all time.

"Musical 2," a sequel to the successful 2006 movie that has spawned all manner of spin-offs, surpassed the previous record holder, ESPN's "Monday Night Football" game on September 23, 2006, which averaged 16 million viewers.

We had it on at our house. Oldest DD went to a slumber HSM2 party and we had little girls over for our youngest DD to watch also. We TIVO'd it and it has been playing all weekend. I think that's fantastic news! :yes:

I really love it :blush: but then I have never grown up :lol: I am still know to have a sneaky read of my old Sweet Dreams books that I have had since I was 11 and can't bear to part with :blush:

It ran at 7:00 and 10:00 for 2 day straight this weekend. We were TIVOing the premire and our power clicked and then had to re-power up the TIVO, I just taped the next showing of it. I wonder how long before it's on DVD.

Im 16 and going to be a Junior this year, and my friends and I had a HSM2 party also!! there was about 15 of us (all 16 year olds)!!!!
