It's getting to that stage of the countdown where I need to think about airport parking etc. We always kick off the holiday with a stay in an airport hotel before we fly, but we normally go from Gatwick whereas we will be flying from Manchester in Feb.
Does anybody have any recommendations for hotels in the Manchester Airport area? :)

Well, ive stayed at both the Radisson SAS and the Holiday Inn. Both are within walking distance of the airport, the Radisson actually being linked to one of the terminals. Both are perfectly fine, although I prefer the Radisson purely for conveniance :)

We have stayed at the Radisson SAS 3 times now and are doing so again in November. We love that start to the holiday, sitting in our room, chairs pulled up, watching the planes come and go. Convenient to walk to Terminals 1 and 2 too, so brilliant for getting back to collect the car on arrival.
Remember to request a runway view. Breakfast is very expensive though!

I've emailed back and forth with the Radisson and 2 x rooms for 2 adults and 1 child will cost £205 each. That includes 18 nights parking but no breakfast - very expensive!
have also looked at Travelodge - £26 room only
and Bewleys - £139 incl. 18 nights parking

I think it depends on if you need parking or not really, if you don't you can't go wrong with the £26 Trevelodge, that's what we tend to do.....

The Radisson have what they call 'family' rooms and we paid £225 with 15 days parking in August. They are in effect two adjoining rooms one with twin beds and one with a double.

Thanks for the replies folks. We're treating ourselves to a PE upgrade on the way out, so will probably go for the Radisson (with runway view - thanks Mary Lyn).
However, £26 for a Travelodge room appeals to my tight-fisted side! :D

The Travelodge room is virtually the same as The Hilton as far as somewhere to sleep is concerned. The only difference we found is that the travelodge only have double beds where we had twins in the Hilton. We are going back to the Travelodge this year again rather than the Hilton. We park in the T2 car-park so the price works out well.

We stay at the Marriott Manchester Airport. For our family of 5 it cost us £125 for a family room plus 16 days parking. It is about 5mins form the airport terminal but they do provide you with transport to and from the airport. Plus the hotel pool is fantastic!
We didn't eat there for dinner but went out to the restaurant attached to the travelodge. It was decent food and a lot cheaper with the kids.

I forgot to mention if you are a member of Virgin Flying club, join the marriott rewards club and you get virgin miles equivilant to the same amount in dollars!!
What I mean is if you spent £200, that is converted into dollars first via your marriott rewards card (around $400) and then 400 virgin miles are added to your account!!!!!!!
Confusing but an easy way to earn the miles towards your next trip!

I enquired about those but they won't let all 6 of us hire one (which we could do if the children were on extra beds) :(

Well we've decided to stay at the Radisson too - but where to get a good price -sure we must be able to beat the direct price of £205 for 2 adults/1child + 18 nights parking - come on people - lend me your expertise!! :shake:

Replying to my own post - booked through FHR.com for £190 for 18 nights parking with a triple family room.
~So have booked that twice over so my parents get the delight of having one of the boys share with them - although I have to say they are not really any trouble now - the only issue might be waking them up in the morning.
I like the idea that we might be able to go and drop off luggage early and then go back to hotel - does anyone know when Virgin open up their bag drop-off for people who have done OLCI? And do all travellers have to be present with their passports? :)

er....Flint Hills Resources? Glad to see that they've gone a million hours without an accident out there in Alaska, but I can't find the link that allows me to book a hotel with parking!
Any chance you could PM me the full URL? Thanx.

The desks were open at 6am when we went in August. I haven't done bag drop so can't answer your question but woudl imagine you all have to be present.
It's so handy to pop back to the Radisson. That sounds a very good price by the way

Thanks for that. Haven't come across that site before - I thought Holiday Extras had a monopoly on airport hotels and parking.

If you join Quidco, the Internet shopping cashback site, then you can get cash back on your FHR booking (as wellas lots of other website like M&S, John Lewis, Currys, Holiday Extras) - that's only if it's a standard type of booking - as we needed to speak to someone over the phone with regards to getting extra car parking nights, then I couldn't do it that way.
