I was sent this in an email from our super-duper travel agent yesterday. :D
We have some interesting rumors starting about the Disney Magic and its location in 2009 and 2010
I want to stress that these are JUST RUMORS at this time
The Disney Wonder is also rumored to be doing 3nt, 4nt and 7nt sailings during the times that the Disney Magic will not be in the Caribbean during the summers of 2009 and 2010
Disney cruise line has not made any official announcements but for those of you that are planners here is where the Disney Magic is rumored to be in the next couple of years
2009 - Alaska sailings in the summer
This means that there will probably be a couple of Panama Canal crossings again to get the ship to the West Coast and back to Florida
2010 - Hong Kong
It is rumored that the Magic will do another Panama Canal from Florida to LA and then from LA doing a Trans-Pacific sailing to Hong Kong.
At this time my personal feeling is that it would have to stop in Hawaii.
All I can say is WOOHOOOO!!!! :excited: I hope this is true. :ship:

The latest rumour is that we may all have an extra year to save. :D The Magic may return to The Caribbean for summer 09 and Alaska and Hong Kong would get pushed back a year to 2010 and 2011. That would make more sense as the new ships should arrive by then.

We were hoping for the Med again but would have loved either the Panama Canal or Alaska. :(

I can tell you that Alaska is just fantastic. Last summer was my immersion year for AK. First at the University of AK in Anchorage for a NASA workshop and two weeks later my DW and I cruised from Vancouver to Alaska. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be on a Disney Cruise Line. We went on Carnival and that was quite wonderful. I hope they hurry so that you will still be able to see the glaciers:blush: Darn that global warming.

Any news about the new vessels? Are they going to build the super duper big ones this time?

I think the press release said they would be 2 decks higher than the Wonder and Magic. :ship: I quite like that they aren't as big as the newer RCI ships, they're more personal IMO. Having said that though, we're booked on Independence of the Seas next summer.....just to see if we like mega ships. :D

Hey Paula, we have sailed two RCI cruises and love them. We went out of Miami for a short Bahama 3 niter and out of Ft. Luaderdale of a 5 niter to Key West, Cozumel, and Costa Maya. Both times on smaller ships...Monarch of the Seas and Majesty of the Seas (I think that is what is was). It is a whole 'nother mind set on an Alaskan cruise. Not so much of a party bunch. It was an amazing trip to be sure. I highly recommend an Alaskan cruise on just about any line.

When we saw this rumour DH said "OOOh Alaska!" and I said "OOOh Hong Kong!" I think we'd best start saving if we both want our wish!

Donna's first ever cruise was on DCL. It was my second, the first being in the late 70's out of Ancona Italy and I don't remember what the cruise line was. Disney totally spoiled us. We really aren't sure we want to try another cruise line just yet. :)

I understand. I think you will find that Alaska is the star, not the boat. At least that is how we percieved it. Alaska is breathtaking. A picture postcard at every turn. Hopefully if you go you will get nice weather. It was a lot different (the cruise) than Anchorage and Denali which are fairly well inland. We stopped in Ketchican, Juneau, Skagway, College Fjord and Prince William Sound and our final destination was Whittier. The first three stops were temperate to boreal rain forests. Ketchican gets over 350 inches of rain a year. That was a shocker to me heading down there after seeing interior AK. I know you and Donna will just love it.

Rick's the same way now...every time I mention cruise and another line, he just looks at me like I've lost my mind. Personally, I don't CARE who sails, I just want to go on a cruise!
