Just read this on Screamscape website.
"Screamscape sources tell us that currently the planned rehab of Space Mountain is now on schedule to begin in June 2008 and will last until April or May of 2009. So you may want to get your fix of Space Mountain goodness now, because Tomorrowland is going to be a fairly boring place to be this summer."

If ever a ride needed a refurb, it's this! DD loves it, but it gives me a headache! :hehe: Hoping they do a proper job and make it smoother. :fingers:

I used to love rides like this but as I have gotten older I don't do it any more.

SM needs a rehab quite badly! It stinks when rides go down for so long, but it's so worth it in the end.

I also hope they make it smoother - I wouldn't go on it this year as my head can no longer take a skull rattling :afraid:

We went on this ride this year for the first time in 9 years of visiting the MK. I also found it bumpy, jerky and frankly, a bit pointless. I much prefer rides with a bit of character like The Mummy in US or the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I don't think I'd miss it to be honest.

I also agree! That's exactly how I feel.

From what I have read, they are getting an entire new track, new cars and a new track path. It will be like a brand new ride, hence the long shut down time.

Thats what I read too.
I hope they get rid of that never ending conveyour belt at the end of the ride. It actually takes longer to exit the ride than it does to que to get on.

I was really disappointed with SM when we went... it's nothing compared to the one at DLRP... let's hope they make it like that one!!

Let's remember that this coaster is 36 years old. :)

Wow i didnt realise it was that old....thats older than me.....guess i should respect my elders.
To be honest it wouldnt matter to me if they changed it or not, I still love it.

Wow, kind of harsh....we were just on it and it was pretty cool. A bit dated, yes, but it was like visiting an old friend..one that jars your head around...but a friend none the less.:D Glad we got to ride it. I really like taking the TTA through the ride. It will be sad riding that and not looking in on the ride.:(

I might actually have to give it another try after the refurb. I won't ride it right now.

It's definitely a bumpy and jerky one... it'll be interesting to see what's done to it!!
What's the one at DLRP like??

If I remember, it has a loop, which is why I never went on it....took me long enough to get on the one at WDW and there's no loop on that one

I liked the TTA :D
Space Mountain... I think I was spoiled after DLRP. I kept waiting for something to happen, for a dip or something.
DLRP's is more Rock'n'Roller Coaster than WDW's Space Mountain. It has a 'launch tube' where you can see over Parc Disneyland and it launches you into the rollercoaster and has quite a few loops - it's great!!! That said, I do prefer RNRC though.

That's a pity - I love SM despite the faults.
