Folks, it looks like am heading over to orlando on March 22, 2008. Incoporating in my holiday is a trip to Miami, to watch Wrestlemania 24.
How easy will it be for me to Travel from Orlando to Miami and Back?
What cost?

Will you have a hire car? If so, it is a very easy journey. Just get on the turnpike & go!! We had a TomTom which helped in Miami itself. I'm afraid I can't help you if you're thinking of flying but I'm sure others will.

Thanks for the responce Katie, but there is a problem, I don't drive :). I would be looking for some help, flights/rail or bus transit, and the all important cost as well. I have been told it's about 202 miles. Is this correct?
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, that is about right mile wise. You can fly from MCO to Miami International and then get a taxi cab there. Not sure where the event is being held, so can't help you with distance or potential cost.
Internal flights tend to be pricey. You could take a bus, but in my limited experience they aren't very cost effective!
No train that I know of runs from Orlando to Miami, but I could be wrong there.
You could price a driver?

Actually if you go to Amtrak.com I believe you will find that there are two trains that travel between Miami and Orlando. I don't know what dates you want but it appears to be about $35 one way and takes between 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 hours depending upon which train you choose.

Check Southwest, they fly between MCO, FLL and MIA and usually are reasonable (MisterE got $20 plus tax flights for MCO to FLL a couple of times when he had less vacation time than me)

I've done it by greyhound bus and I think it took about 6 hours. Flying will be less than an hour.

The flight itself is about 34 minutes from Orlando to South Florida

Hey! There IS a train? See? You learn something new every day. :bounce:
I love taking trains. Guess I'd better look into it more often.
Then quesition then becomes where in Miami is the train station?
I'd fly first though. It's a quick flight!

The Orange Bowl? Interesting choice.
The upside to the Orange Bowl is there is actually public transportation that services it - TriRail.

I am a frigging numpty, the event is in Orlando, not Miami.
Delighted to say, I had booked nothing. -that could have been costly.

i'm actually traveling from South Beach to WDW myself, and i will be using http://www.miamibeach411.com/disney/disney-trips.htm
can anyone advise if they are a reputable/ dependable company? i will only be going for 1 day as i will be only in MIami for a weekend.
i do not want to fly to WDW from MIA, as it will cost $233/ pp and i will still have to pay for a cab x4

Not sure why airfare is that much, MisterE has flown FLL to MCO for less than $50 one way many many times on southwest
