hey everyone, ive been to Disney World tons of times when i was younger, but not in the past few years. Regardless, my fiancee and i are getting married in February, but can't take a honeymoon until May. We've decided on Disney World!
It looks like we want to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or Villas, i keep reading great things about them. I also think we're getting six or seven day tickets so we can see everything, and spend one of the days at a waterpark.
I just wanted to get on here and see what people had to say about honeymooning ad WDW. Any suggestions on what to do/the right people to tell/places to see. I keep reading that we should don the bride and groom ears, is this true?
Also, two side notes:
1) we are both vegan, so any suggestions on vegetarian/vegan friendly dining would be greatly appreciated (ive read the animal kingdom lodge's restaurants are top when it comes to this too, but we're worried about snacking and the parks...)
2) we're (kind of) on a budget. nothing too extravagant.
any help is welcome and greatly appreciated!!

First congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Animal Kingdom Lodge is fantastic, although I'm not sure I would choose it for a honeymoon location, but that is just me.
Since you are both Vegan, when you make your ADRs (and in May you WILL NEED to make these ASAP) make sure that you let them know. Then in almost every case the chef will work with you to create a meal that you will enjoy. Almost every sit down restaurant at WDW has at least one vegetarian entry on the menu but it may not necessarily meet your tastes.

Make your dining decisions soon and be sure to have it noted that you're vegan on the ressie. this book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0967928001/joannemuffinshom) may be of assistance to dining

I think if you can swing the AKL that would be very romantic. That or WL would get my vote.
If you are on a bit more of a budget and you'd like to go moderate I'd rec POFQ (only cause it's smaller and maybe quieter than POR for a honeymoon).
Have fun planning and Congrat's on the upcoming wedding!

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding!
We honeymooned at WDW in 2006 and had a wonderful time. AKL was one of the resorts we stayed at and loved it :D
Bride and groom ears are a must. If you go along not expecting anything and not to be treated differently because you're wearing them you may just get a few surprises (but then you may not, it depends on CMs, etc) Get a honeymoon button free from guest services at any park and wear it everywhere. Tell anyone who'll listen that you're on your honeymoon :hehe:
Fun/romantic things to do are Cirque du Soleil, a night a Pleasure Island, nice meals, fireworks cruise, carriage rides at Port Orleans Riverside, watching Wishes from Polynesian beach, Spirit of Aloha dinner show.
The chefs at WDW restaurants are fantastic and like USCWest says, will work with you to make sure you have a great meal

Below are some of the things I did:
- I booked us into the airport hotel the night before but didn't tell DW. She got home from work to find bags in the car ready to leave a day early.
- How about VIP lounges at the Airport. It was nice to sit in a relaxed, quiet atmosphere with a nice cup of coffee.
- Upgraded our flight seat so we had extra legroom. Upgrade to premium was a bit to expensive with everything else.
- I ordered a bottle of champagne and chocolates for the plane Journey. They brought it to our seats about 30 minutes into the flight and served it up.
- When we arrived at our hotel I had arranged flowers to be in the room. They were on the table when we first went into the room and you get a vase to take home too. It even survived the flight!
- Victor and Albert's was more than we wanted to spend so we had dinner at the California Grill on the top of the Contemporary Resort. I can honestly say it is one of the best meals I have ever had. The best thing, if you arrive at around the time the fireworks are on at Magic Kingdom, you can go out onto the roof and get a exclusive viewing point for restaurant guest only. They play the music on the balcony so you can hear and see it all! The waiter even asked if we would like to wait for our main course until after we had seen the fireworks. Within minutes of returning to the table our food was brought out. I highly recommend.
- We also visited Discovery Cove for the day. The chance to swim with Dolphins was amazing. It was an all together relaxing day and well worth the cost.
- We also went to see Cirque Du Soleil which was great.
We also had some great experiences:
The very first morning in the parks we went for a character breakfast at Crystal Palace with Pooh and all his friends. As it was our honeymoon I made t shirts with Mickey on mine and Minnie on my DW's. One had Just and the other Married all in Disney font. We finished breakfast and walked back up Main Street to collect a park map from City Hall and were stopped by a Man called Dean. It turned out his job was to find the people to be at the front of the Parade. It was amazing, we were to travel the parade route in one of Walt's actually cars and we heard our names called out several time over the tannoy system.
Later in the holiday, while at MGM (as it was then) we went to see the Indiana Jones Stunt Show. Before each show start they pick out members of the audience to take part. The presenter of the show asked if 'Anyone was on their Honeymoon?' Without thinking my wife shot her arm in the air. She saw it, and asked if it was true. We said yes and before you know it 4,000 people are all giving us cheers and a round of applause. Hasten to add we ended up in the show that day.
We also went to see the Hoop De Doo dinner show at the Wilderness Lodge resort. When our waitress found out we were on Honeymoon she let the cast of the show know and we, once again, got a round of applause. As we were right at the front one of the female show cast spent the night try to get me away from my wife, very funny! We were given a certificate exclaiming that we had been given a little bit of Disney magic to take home.
So..............................
It does pay to let people know you are there on Honeymoon.
Hope that helps.
