I am traveling to Disney to get married in feb 09 and have all of our family coming with us who have never been before.
I wanted to plan a special day for them I am getting autograph books, mickey ears and a few other things delivered to each of their hotel rooms and then do something in one of the parks I was thinking about something like a scavenger hunt but I just dont know.
I have seen a character experience with peter pan where you go out on boats to see wishes firework show from the lake which sounds amazing.
I know I am being very vague but just want it to be a perfect day and although ofcourse the wedding day itself will be the main focus but i want to show everyone that I really appreciate everybody coming out with us to be with us on our special day.
Does anyone have any ideas???
I was also thinking about having a running competition for character autographs or hiden mickeys.....
As you can tell i really dont know lol
PLEASE HELP:overhere:

A fireworks cruise would be really nice. You can order refreshments and you can bring your own drinks. You could do it at EPCOT or MK of course. That would be something everyone could enjoy and not take up huge amounts of time.

how about stuff for the day???
I am kinda hoping to keep people busy all day especially as they were going to take my kids for the day while we go meet with the wedding co-ordinator

If they have never been to Disney, they will be busy enough just enjoying the parks.

Normally that's not a problem. There is SO much to do at WDW. Between the water parks, mini golf, horse back riding, parasailing, boating, swimming, shopping, and tours, they may even find time to visit the parks!

I know you would like to do something special for your guests during the day, but you really dont need to! theres so much other stuff there today im sure they will find something to pass the time!
a cruise for the evening would be lovely though!

I have decided to do some sort of quiz for them for when they are exploring.
As everyone on here are the experts on Disney I was hoping for your suggestions.
I need things focusing around Magic Kingdom, things that they will have to look out for or go on rides to find out the answer.
I have just ordered some guides to Disney hoping to get some things from them but I was hoping for any other suggestions.
Thanks
Trish

We had a whole day thing too - we got married at 9:30 and had our guests till after the fireworks at night.
For a couple of hours in the afternoon we let them loose while we relaxed. To help them (a lot of our guests were first-timers), we gave them a program with a list of possible activities, information on the different resorts which were particularly worth exploring, free (or cheap) activities, how to get from A to B etc. Apparently they wandered the Boardwalk. :) We thought that because they'd only have a couple of hours they wouldn't want to waste a whole day's park pass on just that so that's why we gave them that kind of advice.
Would you be paying for their activity or would they?

yea we will be paying for everything thats why I thought it would be easier if we had something specific aranged.
Am now thinking we may possibly do some sort of challange something like who can get the most autographs, ride the most rides or find the hidden mickeys.
It isnt actually for our wedding day it is for the day that we are seeing our wedding co-ordinator because we have asked them to watch our kids for us.
I am arranging for mickey ears, autograph books and other goodies to be waiting in their hotel rooms when they arrive with a postcard from their fave character asking them to meet us somewhere on a certain date. I am doing something during the day (what I am asking about  ) and then in the evening I am planning the peter pan fireworks from the boat thing and then a meal somwhere afterwards

Your idea of a hidden mickey hunt would be good, not expensive but still a lot of fun. You could have a lot of fun putting that together too, maybe get them to take photos of any they find? Or you could include photos of some hidden mickeys, and see if they can find them (I have photos of ones at AKL if that helps) - tell them the resort and see if they can find the mickey ... kids love this too. :) It's amazing how competitive people can get LOL.

There is a book, Hidden Mickeys. Maybe you could find that and use that for your hints?

If you can't find that, how about using just ordinary photos cropped down of places in the MK (now I have lots of photos of that kind!) and asking them to find the place? For example (this is in the queuing area for Splash Mountain):

And you could just ask them to have their photo taken at that place? Might be easier than hidden mickeys, especially if they are new to the parks - the photos would be easier for you to find, too (I have loads I'd be happy to send you!).
Just a thought :)

How about this- what about them viewing certain attractions and having to find out what Disney film it matches up to- for example splash mountain- song of the south, Buzz Lightyear- Toy Story etc. Of course some are blindingly obvious (Pirate of the Carribean- duh) and some don't have films attached (Jungle Cruise) but they could think of the Disney film closest (Jugle book anyone!). A lot of shops and restaurants are also themed to films and it'll be a good way of them at least having a good look round, and riding a few rides as well!
One thing I'd say about the meal after the fiewroks cruise- the Magic Kingdom Fireworks don't start till 9 or 10 most nights, so by the time you get off the boat I think you'll be hard pressed to find anywhre still open for a main meal, and everyone will be ravenous! Probably beter to book a meal a bit earlier somewhere fun- say 7pm in Crystal Palace? That way its a buffet so they'll al lhave choices, and they'll get to meet Disney characters!
For our wedding we're getting married 10am and are then having a late lunch and Cinderellas Royal table ,there'll then be a gap before fireworks cruise in the evening. Can't wait!

Thought I'd throw this in... There's a Family Magic Tour at MK. It lasts about 3 hours. I don't know how old the kids are, but we took our grandkids (ages between 6 and 9), and they really enjoyed it! So did we!

hmmm good point.
I have been having second thoughts about the fireworks cruise....we are taking our two young children and I dont fancy having them get scared of the fireworks whilst on a boat lol
