I am flying with Southwest on Thursday to Florida from Philadelphia. I know I will have to show id (my license) but I'm worried I might have trouble because my license is expired. I have renewed it but will not get a photo card in order to get a new one in time. I printed out a form that says I renewed it. Does anyone think this will cause problems when trying to fly to Disney and back home?

You may have to under go extra security checks since you do not have a current valid photo ID

Do you have a passport? I just show them my passport and don't even worry about my driver license.

No I don't have a passport. I called the airport and they said that I have to have a valid id and to go to the local license center and explain to them my problem and get a photo then. I'm going to have to go on Monday at 8:30 when they open. Cross your fingers for me that they will take the photo for me without any problems.

Can you go to the local law enforcement office? You can get a photo ID from them usually. My Mama has one, as she's never driven. That might be quicker?

No you have to go to the DMV also for a photo id and you need your birth certificate for it and right now my mom doesn't know where mine is.

I don't know what state you are in Meg, but if you live in VA then you are out of luck. In VA if your DL expires you MUST have at least 2 proofs of residency and something that identifies you as you and a Social Security card WILL NOT work. I just renewed my license and the lady in the line next to me had let hers expire. She had her birth certificate but nothing that she could prove her residency with (she was 19) and they refused to reissue her license.

Man, I am able to just renew mine online. they use my prior photo and charge a $3 convenience fee, but it is SO worth it not to have to wait in line.

We can normally renew ours online too JM. But in some cases they make you come in and take your vision test again, and if it has indeed expired you cannot do it online. We were there for almost two hours. :eek:

Mine was expired but I was able to renew it online anyway. Hopefully when I go first thing on Monday they will take the photo for me without the photo pass.

Virginia is the worst place for getting an id/license. They really cracked down since most of the 9-11 terrorists got their licenses here :sorry:

Well I went to the DMV this morning and since it was just opened for your photo to be taken and I didn't have my photo card yet they wouldn't do it. The woman working there told me I might get the photo card today (hopefully). Otherwise I can come back tomorrow when PennDot is there and they will hopefully overide the photo card and take my picture for me. I did call the Orlando Airport and they said I will be fine with the temproary license paper and my expired one. Southwest said the same thing. When I called Philadelphia back the other two people I spoke to said the same thing. I'm still going to try tomorrow morning though and hopefully they will be able to do something for me. Otherwise I'm going to have to take my chances with the expired one and the paper that says a I renewed it. Wish me luck!

Oh ok....it's kind of hard to explain. Yeah I do have a photo id (my PA license). It expired and I renewed it online Thursday night. I printed out my receipt and the temporary license. I'm going to get a photo card in the mail within 10 days to go have a new picture taken. I haven't gotten the card yet so I'm worried if I can't get the DMV to take my picture without the photo card tomorrow that I'll run into problems with the expired photo id at the airport eventhough I have proof that it is renewed.

I get it. Florida, our pictures are digital so when we renew online, you get a new license with the old photo

I have the BEST driver's license picture ever! Seriously, I show it to everyone :lol: I'm hoping to keep it till I die :D

When I moved in with MisterE I went in so I could get a new photo. I really like mine now.
