Unfotunately scams work by the gullable who want something for nothing and end up with nothing for something.

Us veteran Disneyteers know better others do not , but should . That is Sad ! I hope they can get this straightened out with their credit card companies .

It's not even a Disney thing, it's a common sense thing. Never give your personal information (including CC #) to someone who calls you.

This is very true, JM . I was just adding that people at the world are so excited & happy to be there, that who would think a call to your hotel room would be a scam . We veteran guests would, but some other dumb bunny
( 1st timer) doesn't . After you put it that way though, I see what you mean .

Unfortunatly people let their guard down, I mean they are at the Happiest Place on Earth, nothing bad could possible happen and that's when you get in trouble.
Always excercise caution and common sense.

If its sounds too good to be true - dont do it. You never get something for nothing.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I won't even put my wallet in my back pocket at Disney World. I always assume it's like Super Bowl week or Mardi Gras for the professional pick-pockets, but this one lasts all year.
Blessedly I've learned a lot about different kinds of scams over the years and wouldn't fall for one over the phone (heck, I don't even like talking on the phone for more than a few minutes to anyone in my family -- who I love). I know there are a lot of people who want to rip you off. I still feel sorry for my in-laws who bought into a pyramid scam around a year and a half ago that got slammed by an FTC lawsuit 8 months later.
Bottom line has already been mentioned -- if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. You're better off booking from the Disney website itself. It sounds expensive, but it wound up being cheaper that way than booking it ourselves (and that INCLUDES using my brother's 50% discount on Marriott hotels).

You can see why they'd do this, because you just wouldn't think a scammer would ring your hotel room. you know? I mean a personal phone, yes, but I'd probably think it was legit. Luckily for me though, I'd never give details over the phone! I'm paranoid too, since I've studied CC Fraud briefly.

I think most of us are guilty of letting our guard won a bit when we are at WDW. I'd like to say I wouldnt have given my info but who knows maybe I would have.
