Apparently they are going to be adding well known disney characters to the Small World ride in disneyland. Even talk of replacing the New Guinea part with a tribute to the USA.

Thoughts?

I personally have never been to the disneyland version but I would be annoyed if they tried this at dw. Im sure it wouldnt "ruin" the ride but Id rather have it the way it is now.

The must want a revolt in southern california...I think Id be ok with it as long as they didnt mess with the outside of it..the one at DL is MUCH better than the one at WDW

Love the one at DW, the way it is, why mess with a good thing?

The one in California is actually better than the one in Orlando. I like how the train goes right through it and how it has its own area of the park. THe one in Orlando seems like a scaled-down version and is somewhat confusing. I liked it and all, but the one in California seems to follow more of a pattern of going from country to country while the one in Orlando seems to be doing every country at once.

Of course, I've been on the one in Disneyland since 1977 when I was around 5 and I only went to the one in Walt Disney World 2 months ago.

Maybe the plans are to make it more like the one in Disneyland???

Do you know how much room that would require? This is IASW at disneyland

Now compare this to the one at WDW

It's a train or is it still in a boat?

It's in a boat at Disneyland also, but the thing is so big that the train that drives around the entire park literally goes through the ride. If I'm not mistaken, long ago It's A Small World was at the very northern edge of the park before Mickey's ToonTown was built. Trust me, it's enormous compared to the Walt Disney World version -- one of the few rides (along with Pirates of the Caribbean) that I would say are better in California than in Orlando.

This is how I felt when they changed the Enchanted Tiki Room and added Iago. Why mess with a good thing by adding new characters to it???

I had originally thought the same thing when they changed Pirates of the Caribbean and added Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones and Barbossa. I have yet to see the Disneyland version, but I did like the Magic Kingdom one a lot. I never saw the original, but the changes were great.

Oh, I never saw the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter, or whatever they called it before. The whole thing with Stitch was okay, though not one of my favorites (it was a bit nauseating). My wife says it was better before.

it was freaking AMAZING before..but I am willing to give Stitch a try too!

The Alien thing was awesome, Stitch is just cute. The burping part makes me want to vomit though

To keep people coming back they have to freshen things up from time to time. I think the characters wouldn't be too bad, but the US centric thing removing New Guniea, well, it sort of says a lot doesn't it?

EAE was way better before, though i can see why they changed it, made small children cry.

Right you are TOT has nothing to fear, but AE, OH MY, loved that show, wish they would bring it back and keep the littles ones out. But Disney has always done the kid thing, I was so sorry that AE was not there for my DGD.

I agree with you, Disneyland and IASW purists will be very vocal about it if it is true.

That Pooh ride in Disneyland is a lot of fun though. It's a great way to kill time while waiting for your Splash Mountain FastPass to go through.

When I was in Orlando this past January we went to the Country Bear Jamboree show and I suddenly triggered a 30-year-old memory. I realized that I had seen the show before because I remembered the little bear sitting with the band and the female bear swinging from the roof. I had seen the show when I was 5 years old! I have to admit that it's a great show. I'm glad it still exists somewhere.

things will get torn out, they did in Walt's day, they're going to keep doing it. Same with "plussing", i just hope that when they put the characters into IASW, they don't make it obvious and do it in the same Mary Blair style.
