How much discount do you get if you book another cruise onboard?
Just asking for..... no apparent reason :D

I *think* it's 10% and usually some onboard credit, $100 for 3/4 nights and $200 for 7 and more nights. Cats 1-3 are excluded from the offer. :)

For some reason the DCL booking bit is not working for us today :(
It depends what category room you want... I was really surprised at how cheap the inside staterooms can be on a 3-Night or a 4-Night, and that's what we were going to book to begin with :)
In the end we booked a Cat 5 room and that cost us around £900 for the 4-Night Cruise, including the Romance at Sea add-on we booked with it :)
The next cruise I'm looking at is the Sept 19th 2009 Western, which I think is around $2,900 in a Cat 7 (but I'd try and get room 7120 which is technically a Cat 5) but DBF wants to go in August and I can't get the prices up today to check how much it is :( First I'd have to convince him though!!
After we go in August, we'll each have 20,000 FC Miles with Virgin, so going next year is a definite possibility!

Ok hayley just a few questions
:What do the different category rooms mean? whats the difference between cat 5 and a cat 7
:Where is that going to?
How long is your whole holiday land and sea?

Rooms go from Category 12 (being the least costly) right up to Category 1 (the most expensive room on the ship)
Cat 12 & 11 are standard inside staterooms, Cat 10 is a deluxe inside stateroom, Cat 9 & 8 are deluxe oceanview staterooms so they have portholes, Cat 7 is a deluxe stateroom with Navigator's verandah which is smaller and more enclosed than a full balcony, Cat 5 is a deluxe stateroom with verandah, and Cat 4 is a deluxe family stateroom with verandah. Cats 3,2,1 are suites.
Then you've got your 3 & 4 Night Bahamian Cruises on the Disney Western, and your 7 Night Cruises to the Western Caribbean and Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Magic. DCL often do speciality cruises as well, e.g. Panama Canal, Costa Maya, Tortola, etc...
We are staying at POFQ for 17 Nights, and then we are doing the 4 Night Bahamian on the Wonder. That is going to Nassau, Bahamas and Castaway Cay, Disney's Private Island, as well as a day at sea to enjoy the ship. We've also booked the Romance at Sea package which means we'll be allowed to book Palo and excursions the same time as concierge guests, a stateroom gift (DCL robes, chocs and photoframe), champagne breakfast in bed, length of stay passes to the sauna area, romantic turndown....
There are some rooms known as 'hidden porthole' and 'hidden verandah' rooms. You get to pick your own stateroom when booking so we chose a 'hidden verandah' room - room 7120. The verandah is partially cut due to the curve of the ship, so they sell it at a Cat 7 price, when really the room is a Cat 5. Same goes for 'hidden porthole' - they sell some rooms with portholes at inside stateroom prices because the view from them is partially obscured by the boat.

As much as I'd love to do a Disney cruise, I've found them to be SO much more expensive than other lines. MisterE and I are cruising Princess (departs from Fort Lauderdale) on a 7 day. The two of us in an inside cabin, including all taxes etc. was about $1600. Same cruise on Disney at the same time would have been about $1000 more

:iagree: They're very expensive compared to other lines!

Don't worry about it Jade!!
I agree, they are expensive... RCCL are doing an Eastern Caribbean on Aug 31st for 7 nights and the price for a balcony cabin on that is £958 for the 2 of us.
I've been looking at an Eastern Caribbean DCL with St. Maarten on Aug 29th and a balcony cabin is $2865, so more or less £1432
If I was on the RCCL though, and the Magic pulled up next to us in Port, I think I'd cry!!

We are going on the cruise in 09 with friends that done one last year and i have to say that with everything thats included its well worth it and its not more expensive. On the disney cruises at least everything is included where as when they looked into other cruise lines you dont get things like soft drinks included which if you are travelling with young kids is very important

After cruising with both RCCL and Disney I now feel that RCCL give more value for money overall however there are certain areas where I think that Disney does come out stronger.
The quality of service in the dining rooms is better on the Disney ships and the overall attention to detail is the hallmark of a Disney cruise. RCCL excel in their amenities and entertainment package.
DS prefered the Disney ship because of the characters and the Disney theme running through all the shows in the theatre. For me the big pull is Castaway Cay and we are going to cruise with Disney again but for a longer cruise we'll choose RCCL.

I booked the group rate through TMFL ... 4 night bahamian cruise , inside stateroom , deck 6 , $450.00 per person . We have paid some hefty fees for the 4 night bahamian DCL in the past and stayed on deck 2 Oceanview stateroom with a port window .
I thought this was a great deal . For the two of us with taxes and fees, it came to $1,157.00 . Now, I am also going to add the insurance since it is hurricane season, just in case . Which brought the price to a little over $1,2000. Still a great deal !
It is really worth checking out the group rates that Magic For Less offers .
We're thinking about doing the 7 night WC next May $1,230. a person . I don't mind staying in an inside stateroom . We only use it to sleep, shower & change . :D

Debbie got our Group rate from one of the sailings that we had "blocked". We have group rates on sailings right through 2009. The cruise that she booked will no longer be available at that price after April 28, 2008 as we have a limited time for these rates. We have a wide range of prices for these cruises according to where you want to stay. If anyone wants any information feel free to contact me.

I'm hoping to convince DBF after he sees how wonderful our cruise is! I'm hoping to drag him back to Florida next year and he's quite keen already when I told him how much airmiles we had :)
I would love to stay a week in Wilderness Lodge and a week on the Magic, with just a couple of days on I Drive to enjoy US, IOA and SW... but we'll see how much ££ we have after renting.
If we decide to cruise again, I'll definitely give you a shout Marie!!

Hayley, I'm sorry, sweetie, I never answered your initial question , it is 10% discount when booking onboard . Whoopee !
I'm so happy I found TMFL and their group rates . Unbeatable discounted DCL pricing . I wanted to do the 4 night in June . It was very close to my birthday, but because I didn't know ahead of time about these fabulous offers , that I missed out and June's cruise had already been closed . Thats when I jumped on the next one in August . Which actually worked out nice . I had no idea at the time of booking, that the pin event was the weekend that we arrive at WDW . :excited:
Dzneprincess : can you possibly post the link to the group rates ? This way prospective cruisers can see the dates and the great rates .:wiggle:

I have noticed from a couple of places that there are scrapbooking days on some of the cruises. Are these always available or only on certain cruises.Think its a brilliant idea especially as alot of the scrapbooking shops and places that do courses are closing around here

I don't know about scrapbooking . But they had learn how to turn your towels and washcloths into an animal design . They also had cooking lessons from the chef's crew . Ice sculpture was also available . They may have had scrapbooking . There is so so much to do . I may have missed it . :sorry:

I've heard that Princess and RCCL offer scrapbooking but it's really a scrapbooking 101 basic basic class so if you've done some scrapping before, you'll be bored

I've never seen scrapbooking on DCL. They did it on our RCI cruise though and JM's right, it was basic stuff.
