I know it is upsetting now, but like I said if you want to get married now go ahead and do it then renew your vows in a few years when you have saved up enough to do it.

Don't give up on your dream :)

I bet everyone here would help you, and help you budget for the big day - I know I would :D

Have you considered the Swan and Dolphin (http://www.swandolphin.com/weddings/main.html), which are much cheaper than Disney packages and still on Disney property. Or the Regal Sun Resort (http://www.regalsunresort.com/weddings/)(formerly The Grosvenor) at Downtown Disney. Ceremony packages start from only $700 and you are still on Disney property.

Since you would not be taking out a package with Disney, you would not be required to book any kind of room block, so you could stay in the accomodation you have already. Perhaps someone would be willing to look after your DS for your wedding night, and you could stay at the AKL as a treat.

You could then go for a nice meal somewhere, in one of the resort restaurants in your wedding dress :)

i can certainly put it to the other half!!! what we planned, correction, i planned is have the cereomony and cake reception at lunchtime and then go back to our apartment for food and freshen up before going back to watch wishes. we could always go back to the pavillion at a later date and renew our vows. oooh another excuse for new dress!!

thanx hayley

I'm sorry things aren't working out for you pink. I always knew weddings were expensive but it wasn't until we started planning our own did I really realize how much they really are. We were talking about it this morning and we still don't know how we are going to have enough money put together by October 09 so that we won't have to use the credit card.

Hey, Pink. I know this is really sad, and my heart is aching for you, but if you really have your heart set on your dream wedding, wait until you can afford it and have that special day.

However, marriage is much more than just a wedding day, so you could make that special commitment more quietly now, and then have a vow renewal at Disney when you can afford it. You will have time to plan it just how you want it, but you will be doing that together as husband and wife.

I just want to say how much I admire you for being so sensible about it all. Many people today just borrow money to finance the things they want, whether they can afford it or not. It is this 'have it now, worry about the cost later' attitude that has caused so many of the current economic problems. A big bravo to you for not trying to have something you can't really afford. I think you are great.
:salute:

Julie-
I couldn't have said it better. As I said my vow renewal was my dream wedding and the best part of it was all my children and grandchildren got to participate in it. The longer I waited the better it got and it was a great one.

Pink-
That is great! I know you won't be sorry. My daughter just got married 2 weeks ago and she and hubby were living together for 7 years and had a 6 year old daughter (she was their flower girl). The wedding was fantastic!! They paid for it on their own. Having 3 other daughters we would never have been able to give them the wedding they had. My other daughter and her fiance have been together for four years and are saving for their wedding in 2 years. It is better to have the money then go in debt for something that is only a few hours.

I definetly agree with everybody
We have planned to do this for so long now, we finnally got round to booking it after looking at the finances and since we have our budget has more than doubled. (not helped by me getting a dress 3 times more expensive than what I had budgeted..oops....is stunning though hehehe)
I am so glad that we waited there is no way we could have afforded all of the changes a few years ago.
We will have been together 9 and a half years in feb when I finally walk down the aisle and I have 2 beautiful children, I see it as a good thing at least I know him VERY well and I know that I want to be with him forever (plus I know that I am not waisting all of this money to get married to someone I dont really know)
Stay strong it WILL happen!!!!!!
