Hi, We have booked to go to Caribbean beach and I am just trying to find out odd bits of silly info ready for our trip. I can obsess a bit! First can anyone tell me if the shops at the resort sell grocery type things such as milk and breakfast cereal, but my main worry is nappies can I get these in resort or will I need to make a special trip out somewhere - if so where and how without a car?
Next.. I heard the rooms and pool are being redone anyone know when all this will be finished and what theme the new pool will be - any piccies would be great.
Finally I have not put any preference in about which building to stay in and know it is a large resort, can anyone tell me how long if I was in a far away building it would take to walk with little ones to the centre?
Thanks in advance for any help - just the first of many silly questions!!

All Disney Resorts sell milk and individual portions of cereal  They also sell nappies in the store, although they may be a bit more expensive than you'd pay in a supermarket.
If you want to visit a supermarket, the nearest is probably Goodings at the Crossroads, which you could get a taxi to.

I've stayed at CBR and we were in Martinique which was quite close to the main shop/food court. Even so it was still a good five minute walk. If you were given a room in one of the furthest away areas, I think it's Trinidad South, it would probably take around 10-15 minutes to walk to the food court.

We stayed in Aruba last time and will be in Jamaica in September, the walk was between 5-10 minutes at a nice leisurely pace. If you dont have a car I wouldnt want to be any further away than that.

Thanks for info it looks like I perhaps would be best requesting not to be too far away from the centre then. Glad about there being milk etc, perhaps one big stocking up trip in a taxi to Goodings then. Anything on the finishing of the rooms it would be good to get one of these Nemo or pirate ones!

I dont' think Goodings is the cheapest place to shop. I believe I have heard that there is a Walmart and a Publix that are also nearby and cheaper.

We stayed in trinidad the furthest resort area and it took about 15mins to wald to the food court at adult speed. The resort is beautiful but we will not return to it because it was just so big. The resort also runs an internal shuttle bus. If you find the map we were in the area where the lake is split by the road.

Hi Cuddle Monster :)
How can you be so sure that you will be in Jamaica this next time as I thought allocations were given 4 days prior to your stay?

Stayed in Aruba - good walk through a smelly island as i remember... Still your in Disney so you put up with it, because its a nice resort and you've got you disney head on.
Try and work out how many nappies you use per day & work out how many you will need for 2wks & a few extras, that way you might not need to worry about looking for Goodings or paying more for nappies in the resort. We did this a few yrs ago & it seemed to work. The baggage allowance on the way out was made up of nappies & ready made milk, which almost exceeded the allowance in one case, however it went down as the holiday progressed...
Happy planning

Wooohooo you will be there at the same time as us :)
I can not be 100% sure that I will be in Jamaica Jobeck however we have put all the requests in and we have a few special events while there the lovely cast member said she would do everything possible to make our dreams come true :)
I will be calling again nearer the time to find out for sure.
PS. I never found Parrot Cay smelly.

Hi Cuddle Monster could you tell me who you rang to put in the request for a specific location was it the actual disney resort or a travel agent. Would appreciate the info and any contact numbers you have to do this!

You can fax them (i think its 4 days before you arrive) and request which block you want, although dont think its 100% guarentee...I just took pot luck when i arrived as i always do, its part of the holiday hype...lol

99% of the time, Disney won't take requests via phone, you need to fax and be sure to put your request on your ressie (Best chance is that way)

I have never had any issue contacting them via the phone and have been encouraged to do so in future. Maybe its the accent? :D
Day Dreamer, all the information you need is on the following page for contacting them.

We could just share Jobeck :D
DW has the capacity to take 10,000 pictures and I would be surprised if she doesn't come somewhere close so we should have enough pictures to make a walk through flip book of the CBR :)

We have just returned last Friday from CBR, sadly the pool was not finished when we left, nice resort we stayed in Jamica. Bit of a walk to the food court and shop, especially at night it was a bit scary walking across the bridge in the dark, its not well lit up and they have music playing. Also we had part of Tropical storm Faye and it rained non stop for 10 of the 14 days we were there.
We found the buses to the parks were not very frequent, one day we wanted Epcot, every bus came apart from that one and sometimes 2 buses would come for Animal Kingdom or another park. Overall we enjoyed our stay we stayed at Pop century last year and we must say we enjoyed that more only because with the kids, it was more kiddy orientated with there themed pools and big toys here and then, we found the CBR more for the older generations or couples, mind you saying that the big pool which I believe is going to be fab when finished (did have a glance, looked ace) is very big and looks great for kids. We only picked CBR as we got the free dining plan.
Just booked for Aug 09, this time we are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarters again not our first choice of hotel but cheapest we could get with free Dining plan.
Kids loved Pop century and it was the cheapest! But sadly dining plan not included and this was brilliant for us this year, especially with hungry kids in tow!!

The CBR rooms are nice, and some of them were refurbished to POTC rooms. They are Pirate themed and really cute. Check them out on the Disney site.
