What part of the wedding? Is it for walking down the aisle or at the reception?

Funnily enough I read something yesterday in the Sunday paper which said that the most popular song last year for the first dance was Amazed by Lonestar!

For our first dance we had Amazed by Lonestar which was perfect :tango:

We walked in to the reception dinner to From this Moment by Shania Twain.

Other good ones are Come What May from Moulin Rouge, What a Wonderful World by Lois Armstrong, All I Want is you by U2.

I LOVE Amazed by Lonestar.

Our song is Stuck on You by Lionel Ritchie. If we get married at Disney, I want that for our at-home reception. I love 'So Close' by Jon McLaughlin for Disney :)

Last wedding I went to it was 'Better when we're together' by Jack Johnson and it was really cute!

Following on from the popularity of Strictly Come Dancing, I hear the big craze at weddings now is for the bride/groom/best man and bridesmaids etc to do a proper dance for everyone. A family were on This Morning last week learning a routine fortheir wedding at the end of the month.

As if it isn't stressful enough that would be terrifying :afraid:

I saw that Debbie. They looked so awkward doing it, and when they had the whole wedding party trying to dance too... :rotfl:

My friend walked down the aisle to Angels by Robbie Williams (honestly!) and it was in a Catholic Church - I don't know how she managed to persuade the priest!

I want my entrance to be quite traditional but when I am home wanting something a little more unusual.

How about 'It's the end of the world as we know it' by REM, that would be unusual! :rotfl:

Seriously, it's hard to know what to suggest without knowing what you like. Do you want something really slow and smoochy or something more upbeat? Do you want soemthing modern or classic, such as Motown? More guidance please!

In regard to the whole dance routine thing, I saw a couple on TV who had rehearsed the final dance from Dirty Dancing and performed that at their wedding! Then there were some others who had the wedding party, including ushers, bridesmaids, parents doing Thriller!

We had 'Say A Little Prayer' by Aretha Franklin.

They played the beginning of 'Welcome to the Jungle' by Guns n' Roses as our announcement song . Our first dance was 'Time in a Bottle' by Jim Croche...that'd be good if you don't mind that it was written in the 70's .

Two of Hearts by Garth Brooks is a good upbeat song also .

Lol
Ok well we really are into pretty much everything we have been to see everyone from U2 to Greenday and Elton John to Foo Fighter in concert My top radio stations in my car are Radio 1, Galaxy, Rock FM and Classic FM
I think we need something not too up beat as he has some VERY cool friends and we dont want ot embarress ourselves :hehe:
As you can tell from most of my posts on here I am terrible at making choices and he just leaves everything to me.

If I were picking something now, other than the one we had, I would go with either 'I Get The Sweetest Feeling' by Jackie Wilson, 'Into the Mystic' by Van Morrison, or 'You Belong To Me', the Vonda Shepherd version.

I don't think you could class any of those as a 'cool' choice though. I think I am a bit old to be in any way cool. If I had to try, I would choose'Iris' by The Goo Goo Dolls.

How about Love Song by The Cure? It's a bit upbeat, but the words are just amazing. I'll bet you could find a slower accoustic version. Or if you are having a band, they could play it slower for you.

How about "Keeper of the Stars" by Tracy Byrd

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight

I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude

So I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew http://www.wdisneyw.com/images/t/41593.gif

We had 'All I have' by Beth Nielsen Chapman (13 years ago). The only bad thing about using a song that is rare or unusual is that they never play it anywhere. DH doesn't like to dance but if that song came on I could guilt him into it. It is a really pretty song though.

All I have is all I need
and it all comes down to you and me
How far away the world becomes
in the harbor of each others arms......

I remember sneaking a little song into our wedding list, we had to have three songs played during the ceremony and I put an instrumental by REM into my list.
I would bet only 2 people there recognised it, but those who did would have understood by choice of "Endgame".
I was finally going to have to grow up and act like an old married man!!!

For our first dance my wife chose the really corny "Have I told you lately" by Van Morrison. She wanted really slow so I couldn't do any crazy moves on the dancefloor ... little did she know that I had made a special request for Night Fever to come straight on afterwards. 6 and a bit years on she still hasn't really forgiven me for my solo dance to that!!!

We had DJ Sammy ft Yannou - Heaven (Candlelight Mix) We both liked the Bryan Adams version but thought it was too common so went for that version. Very nice :)

Okay, you may think I'm totally corny to suggest the Carpenters, but you have to listen to their song "You're The One." The lyrics are simply beautiful and there is nothing more fitting or appropriate for a first dance at a wedding. I am getting chills just thinking about it.

Unfortunately, I first heard the song years after my wedding so it was too late to use it.
It would be so great because it is unique and most people have probably never heard it before. Take my word for it and give it a listen before you make your final decision!

I have been married two times and i have used two really nice songs.. the first wedding was "Grow old with Me" by Mary Chapin Carpenter which was written by John Lennon and yes there is a beautiful version by him as well floating about out there,, it was taken from bible verse.. gorgeous.....and my second wedding was " I finally found someone" by Bryan Adams and Barbra Streisand.. another great song...unfortunately neither marriage lasted but oh well, they were still nice songs.. Hope this helps...

i was saving this for my own wedding but this is such a great song so i'd shared this with you guys.

I'm So in Love with You by UNV. This is such a romantic song, makes you fall in love again and again. The opening notes are in the tune of "here comes the bride" followed by the words: You are to me, what poetry tries to say with a word."

Really romantic and sweet with the line "the air that i breathe, even speaks of you!"

check it out! :overhere:

Okay, you may think I'm totally corny to suggest the Carpenters, but you have to listen to their song "You're The One."

If you were going for a Carpenters track, 'We've Only Just Begun' would be the corniest one!

We had 'When I Fall in Love' by Nat King Cole but when we renew our vows, which we are planning on doing in Vegas 2015 for our 25th wedding anniversary, we'd have 'So Amazing' by Luther Van Dross, excellent lyrics, cos for 18 years it has been! :cloud9:
(sorry if you need a bucket now folks! :rotfl: )
