In a thread about the Honeymoon Registry, Katie C wrote:

"Hi there,
My fiance and I are using the honeymoon registry and its fantastic. Its completely free to the couple, essentially you register your details, and then you pick experiences to pur on your list, this can include hotel nights, park tickets (and special events tickets), meals, souvenirs, gift hampers, activities (tours, noat hire etc) and so forth. Each activity has a number on increments associated with it, so that people can pay for a whole activity or, if it's expensive, pay towards something instead. All of funds from the experiences bought go on a special wedding Disney GIft card, which you can use to pay for everything. The beauty of this is that if a paritcular item is unavailble (closed for refurbishment, sold out etc) you can put the funds donated towards something else. The card has a $3000 limit on it, but any funds not spent at WDW can be kept for a future trip or used in US Disney Stores.
Hope that helps!
Katie"

And she's right, because that's my understanding too -- but what happens to your registry if you book a Magic My Way package that has tickets and hotel and so on already a part of it? Do you just not put the hotel etc on your registry? Or, if it's on there already, can the gifts from your people just sort of get applied to the vacation package?

How does the honeymoon registry *and* Magic My Way work?

If you get the gifts which you will before your trip is paid off you can use that to pay the bill. Since it is a Disney Gift card you can use t for anything to do with WDW.

Wow!

Seriously?

Very cool!

You can actually use a Disney gift card in the restaurants or anything.

Yea! Because I just found out that Epcot has a Teppan-yaki place and that is one of Fish's FAVORITE food styles, so we'll definitely have to go there -- and if we can use our Gift Card, so much the better!

The Teppanyaki restaurant has been recently re-done. We ate there before the refurbish and LOVED it. They have an awesome ginger salad dressing.....as a matter of fact, the recipie is in the menu (http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/menus.html) section. It's super-duper easy to make.

Remember that packages have to paid 45 days prior to arrival (and Tepan Edo is on DDP)

Her wedding is in June and she wants her trip in September so it is covered. I wouldn't have told her that otherwise.

Yeah, we have stuff going on in July and August at home that we absolutely cannot miss (also the first weekend in October!) so we're squeezing our honeymoon in during September, when things are relatively quiet at home and we won't be missed if we sneak away for a week or so.

Heh, we'd originally planned for the honeymoon in Sept even before we knew it was one of Disney's off-seasons, just because that's the month that works best for us!

Funny how these things work sometime.

Honeymoons can happen anytime and you don't even have to go away for them. Hubby and I are married 32 years and we are still on our honeymoon.
