I have a Garmin sat nav and wondered if it would be possible to download maps for Florida. I know you can download the whole of the US, but that's £60 so wondered if it would be possible just to do Florida as we don't really need anywhere else :)

I use a TomTom and I can just get overall maps like US/Canada. Unless they are available directly from Garmin you might be stuck with buying the entire map

Ah right, might not bother then.....£60 seems an awful lot for something we won't get that much use from, just thought it might be handy :)

Vikki, have you considered buying a US sat nav on ebay?
We did this last year, we got a brand new garmin and it was cheaper than downloading the mapping for our excisting unit.
Maybe worth a look I know the pound is weaker at the moment but no harm in looking, and ours worked brilliantly.

Hi Vikki

We had a Garmin that took maps on a card and we bought one for Florida for about £20 off ebay.

We've since got the Garmin 270 which has both European and US maps built in!

Hope that helps!

That's an idea!

Actually the best GPS units you can get in the US are TomTom units, you can get their basic unit for $99, the TomTom ONE.

We have the Garmin Nuvi 200 (I think) we rent out to our guests (at a very reasonable rate)! We bought it over there, it was about $120.

That's the one we have, but the widescreen version.
