Hi - has anyone experience of booking with Florida Car Hire? There rates seem particularly reasonable - at least of any I have studied they do.
Also, can any insurance experts out there tell me just what we do need to have included for us brits?
Many thanks in advance.

sorry no experience of florida car hire. But Insurance wise - you need collision damage waiver, (CDW) this is the same as having UK comprehensive cover. It can be pricey so always check whether it is included or not when you get a quote.
as with everything shop around. Alamo offer some good deals on their .co.uk site - they inlude CDW as standard. If you are wanting an extra driver then it's cheaper to upgrade to 'alamo gold' and get free additional drivers.
Beware alamo and others charge extra for child seats and that can end up costing more than the car

Thanks for your reply. I always get confused with the initials, so will def remember CDW. Fortunately we are past the car seat stage now.
Have shopped around & looked & shopped around again - Florida Car Hire seems to come to the top each time.

Used them the last 2 years - we used to take the premium insurance offer as the tank of gas was worth more than the added cost - no longer is - so the standard Gold package is all you need in the US, covers all eventualities END OF. The sites booking direct do offer a lesser insurance but bump you at the desk- the package you pay is all you need. If they offer a special (and they will) when you pick up the car - you can sometimes haggle an upgrade, a bigger jeep for an extra $100 for the fortnight - if it doesnt matter to you - hit them with a daft offer. We like ALamo - onsite at MCO and you can pick any car from a line and off you go - Hertz sometimes give you the keys to an ugly colour older car and we take them back complain it's not clean - they are never super clean from anyone just to get the silver nicer model beside it - Alamo just let you pick anything in your pricerange and process the paperwork as you leave the garage.

Midnight - thanks for your very helpful response. We are looking at Budget or Dollar because they automatically include an extra driver in the gold package, which is extra with Alamo & Hertz. We will defo be looking at one of the companies onsite at MCO - gone for a cheaper offsite option before & wasted soooooo much time (both ways). At moment can't decide between MPV & SUV - tough decisions ... Will keep checking prices. Thanks again.

That skews the calculation somewhat - we only need the one driver. Go SUV you couldn't afford a 4.0l petrol 4x4 in this country - it's nice for a couple of weeks with cheap petrol - and safer as at least you are as big as anything likely to crash into you.
