We are looking at floridacarhire.net for our car this trip. Has anyone had any experience? I am always so confused when comparing insurances since they always seem to quote different acronyms . This company seems to be the most competitive.
Also - looking at either 7 seater van or Durango 4x4 7str. We can prepay a tank of fuel if booked in advance - £40 cost. With the increased gas prices is this good value? My car here costs me £70 per fill  but haven't a clue how big the gas tanks are on these cars. I am tending towards the "no" option!

I did the math and it is very expensive for the price they are asking. I know gas prices are crazy but $60 for a tank is about $3 a gallon and we are paying $2.15 a gallon right now in New York and Florida is always cheaper then us.

Right now it would cost me about $60.00 to fill my Durango from empty. If that is more than £40 then I would would opt for the tank of gas, especially if you are planning on doing a lot of driving because you could then return it near empty.
Also how many of you will there be? The Durango will not have much luggage room if you have all 7 seats filled.

John - I read on a previous thread that you have a Durango, so thanks so much for replying.
At current exchange rate £40 is $56.00, so the maths are comparative. Will think about that one.
There will be 5 of us - 2 adults + 3 fairly grown up children (18, 16 & 14). We plan on driving a bit so would appreciate some space to spread out. We were upgraded to a Durango on our last visit & really enjoyed the car. Cost wise there is very little to choose between Durango & a 7-str minivan - will now see what DH has to say. Thanks again.

I am used to smaller tanks John. I drive a Mazda5 used to have a 30 gallon tank in my van but switched when the van decided not to work hubby bought me the Mazda.

It if for 7 adults. Mears would be cheaper but I want to know if people have used it and liked it.
