Hi All
Can someone please explain the process of check in / online check in. We have our seats reserved online - do we check in day before & get confirmation of our seats at that point or do we just check in as normal? How soon before flight do you have to be there - i'm just weighing up if it's worth booking the lounge or not - I don't really want the kids hanging around longer than necessary but if we go to the lounge at least they should be able to have a table to do colouring in etc raher than the mania of the regular dept lounge?? What does everyone think? At the moment i've got a quote of £55 for the 4 of us - what do you think?

If you do OLCI you print your boarding cards and go straight to bag drop at MAN. If you choose to check in at MAN you have to go to a kiosk and input your own info and print your passes, then go to bagdrop. Check in desks are only available for UC/PE. :)

Oh ok so I guess it's easier to do it online then. Do you get your seats confirmed at that point?

Yep- everytime we have checked in online you print out your boarding cards with your seat numbers on them, I always try to do the online check in as soon as it opens which is 24 hours prior to departure, doing this has always ensured we have got the seats that we had previously reserved

You do get your seats confirmed at online checkin, but they are always subject to change right up to you getting on the plane....I know a few people have had theirs changed as they boarded. We find online checkin brilliant! It's such a shame there isn't a bag drop at Orlando too for coming home.

I cannot urge you enough to use the online check in, if only so you avoid the nightmare we had last time we flew from manchester with Virgin.
They had numerous check in desks open for Club Orlando, Premium Economy and OLC, but only 2 for everyone else.
The queue hardly moved, until 15 mins before check in closed, when they then had the bright idea to allow the other desks to check in the "cattle class" who hadn't checked in online.
Not a great start to the holiday!

Totally agree. When we went in 2004, online checkin had only started a day or two before. We breezed past everyone queuing and you could hear all of them muttering 'we should have done that'

I have never been able to do this :sigh: When I have tried day before I have just had a message to check in at airport. I am assuming it's because of the special assistance.

So do you still need to arrive 3 hours before if you check in online?

Last time we did online check in the wait to drop the bags was worse than a standard check in - with the thickest staff marshaling the valued guests. We were an hour in the bagdrop queue , same at DTD only in the sun and then delayed both ways flying - See you on BA this year if you going.

I won't do online and DTD checkin, don't really see the point to be honest.
