We also have a car seat booked with them, which I'm now a bit concerned about.....anyone had any experiences of their car seats?

Yes we''ve had a car seat Vik. I rear facing carrier one though.
TBH I didnt feel it was wonderful quality compared to ours at home although Im sure it was up to safety guidelines. It was perfectly clean though.
We took our own carrier in April as we knew we would be in the car lots.
This time though being in Disney we're back to a rented one as part of the platinum ins. with VH.

As long as it;s clean and safe, I'll be happy :)
So does this mean it's not Dollar anymore, as of now?

Vikki - when we did this a few years ago it was a basic polystyrene seat which was safe enough but nothing special and a little grubby. Given how much they charge for these things we have taken our own ever since. We put it in a large clear polythene bag so it can be seen what it is and it isn't part of your luggage allowance on BA or VA.
If it is part of your package then it will do a job but if you are paying for it then you might want to consider cancelling and taking one of your own.

We had considered taking our own but weren't sure..... It's not included in our package.

If you have a big / expensive one then you could buy a cheap one from Argos or Halfords for less than the cost of renting one and at least you'd be able to judge the quality / safety for yourself. Even if you didn't bother bringing it back you'd still be saving money.

We reserved a £60 one last night online with Halfords. We then checked our insurance package a bit more and it seems we have the car seat included  Halfords then rand us and said that car seat was out of stock.....so worked well all round

We hired a car seat once from Dollar and it was rank, considering the amount it cost us for the 2 wks. Since then we have took our own, it was almost 5yrs ago when we hired one of theirs so things might have changed. :)

:iagree: When Ava was just over 2 - and when they were both 6 months and 3 and a half I took our own seats. My brother had hired a seat from Dollar in Orlando and whilst it was brand new (in the box) there was no-one to help fit it and it was basically a polystyrene thing which is obviously ok but they weren't thrilled and neither was my nephew - don't think it was particularly comfortable. I just think kids are happier in their own seats - it's familiar. Also my kids both have seats that recline when they're sleeping - I hate it when they fall alseep and their heads are lolling about all over the place . The ones at dollar do not recline. We literally took the seats out of the car and Virgin packaged them up for us and took them at check in - no charge. It's a bit of a hassle but well worth it IMHO!

We asked for help with fitting Jan and they said they couldnt as they would be liable.

Of course they should be liable! The amount you pay should cover that. So they literally just give you a car seat with the keys and you're left to get on with it? Do they at least provide instructions?

We hired a child seat from Dollar last November and it was fine. The man brought it to the car for us. It is given to you wrapped and sealed in a bag as they clean them after each time. He unwrapped it and fitted it into the car securely for me, I didn't need to ask him. I have no worries using one of theirs again this year.

There really do seem to be a lot of different experiences here..... I'm pleased to know they at least have them washed after every use

Hi Gemma - was it a proper car seat in so much as being fabric covered and something you would buy or was it a polystyrene shell? It could be that they have changed their seats now which may explain why there are differing opinions on the thread.

It was a proper car seat, covered with fabric. I didn't notice anything different to the one we have at home. I'm pretty sure it reclined too
